Loads of ladybirds. Seem to be everywhere but not in swarms. In house, in garden, etc. Started appearing a few days ago.

Loads of butterflies spotted on our wildlife reserve walk earlier.

A first for me this morning - a hedgehog caught in a rat trap.
It's a live-catch trap, so I was able to release the hedgehog with no harm done. It was too scared to unroll with me hanging around, so I placed it under a bush and left it alone. Five minutes later, it had gone.
The first hedgehog I've seen since April 2023.

Female blackbirds are collecting food rather than just foraging/eating. 1st brood already hatched?

Watched one fledge from a nest in my garden last week so I would say balckbirds are well underway . . .

Nothing earlier, but I did hear an owl last night (we do get the occasional one).
Actually, that's not quite true as I saw what was probably a Meadow Brown Butterfly at Singer Railway station and also a deceased Lady Bird at Dalmuir. 🤦♂️
