Goldfinch picking up the spllled nyger seed. I got sick of the amount of waste that covered the patio with these little buggers raking it out of the feeder so I hung a bird feeder tray underneath to catch the spills. It seems to work and they're happy to eat from it too. There're still Siskin visiting too so I'll leave the camera set up to see if I can get shot of them.

I moved the camera to point at the feeder and fat ball cage, sods law, the Siskins only appeared to be going on the tray now! Plenty of other action though, Goldfinch, Blackbird and a couple of Jackdaws.

Very nice. I have four feeders: One for hummingbirds with sugar water, one with suet - mostly for woodpeckers - one with regular seed - the small birds love it - and one with sunflower seeds. I like your solution to catching the left overs.

We're not exotic enough to get Hummingbirds here! The tray for leftovers seems to help the Siskins & Goldfinches, as previously if the feeder became empty they'd disappear until I re-filled it. Whilst other birds will eat the spilled seed on the ground they won't. But as soon as I hung the tray on they're feeding on the seed in there. I did catch a picture of a Siskin yesterday afternoon, shame the light wasn't very good but there he is anyway.

Was in the Natural History museum in Oxford yesterday.
All they got is some old dinosaur bones and whatnot, and there's you with them running round the fields.
Gonna tell them to up their act or I'm no going back.

A fox moth turned up for dinner, but I don't think it'll like chicken & mushroom pasta.

We have been having hedgehogs in our rear garden for years and the one thing that I don't understand is no matter what brand dry food you leave out for them it seems to attract snails and slugs, which hogs like to eat
