No photos wasn’t quick enough but under the bit of tin where I usually find slowworms, late yesterday afternoon a snake, grass snake I think. Gone in a couple of seconds. Had white dots on the rear/side of its head. Grey/green colour.

Then looking out the bathroom window, just about, dark but there’s an LED shining brightly on the lawn, a glowworm. Astonishing brightness.

Big black bird digging into the lawn this morning, solo, getting on for the size of a buzzard so thinking it might be a Raven. Is that possible, or just a fat crow?

No photo, fat chance of them sitting still but a ride along the riverbank (River Nene in Peterborough) lots and lots of butterflies, fabulous to see so many. Probably ideal habitat , but among them one stood out, a beautiful large golden brown colour so probably a Fritillary (which may well be quite rare) or a Wall Brown (also becoming rare). No chance of detail, it was in flight but lovely looking.

A Raven is about the size of a buzzard so quite possible
