Ever had an itch you can't scratch? Prolonged biting and scratching, nearly 4 minutes, for this tormented badger yesterday morning.
Note time stamps.

Ive Just seen my 1st peacock butterfly of the year.

Quick ride into countryside locally, just 6 miles but...quite a few butterflies dancing around the verges.
One bumblebee came out of the side...with a butterfly in very close formation, like 1 or 2 inches from. It, following its every move, slightly odd.
Muntjac deer.
Little clouds of flying midges or insects in the warmth.
Stood over a brick spoil pile waiting to see if any lizards showed, no luck today.

Anyone notice the almost complete collapse of rabbits ?, you simply dont see them anymore.

I could put this in 'your ride today', or 'the retirement thread' or here...so here it is
Nice day...kids are at school, I could decorate but its just too nice so a ride out to Ferry Meadows country park, some of it very busy but also has lakes and scrapes, partially flooded fields ideal for birdlife. Seen today..
All the usual common stuff but includes
Roe Deer in the large fields/scrub.
Pochard
Possible pintails
Lots of teal
Lots of widgeon
Probable Goldeneye
Pheasant
Long tailed tits
Blue tits
Wren
Quite a few shoveller ducks
The usual geese, Canada and greylag

Lovely couple hours, boy so many miles on the bike but all at a very relaxed pace in some very welcome sun...and better than working

Peacock butterfly took a liking to this old clay pipe in our sink garden just now.
