children back to school today, YAY :}
Keeps threatening showers so just a quick ride out, actually, finally, got some half decent Kingfisher shots
KINGFISHER.JPG

Ironic, lights not so great this morning so i had been using a much lower shutter speed than id like (1/500, usually i'd like to be at 1/1000 to freeze the detail)...and i struggled to hold the camera still, yet despite that, they came out better than any i'd shot previous
.
Should have seen my grin when i looked back on screen :smile:

I am pretty sure a Kestrel just landed in front of my patio doors.
It only stayed maybe 2 seconds.
Logic says it would be a Sparrowhawk but the breast was clearly speckled as against the stripey type of the hawk.

A very quiet start to the morning, sat one hour and saw very little of interest, but walked/meandered on the bike around 2 or 3 miles round the park and saw these

Started out very slow but plenty out there. Just missed a cracker opportunity on a Jay, sat on a post as i rode by, would have been perfect. slowed down as quietly as possible but off into the trees it went. i did get some shots but obscured.

(No photos). On todays ride at several places groups of 3 to 4 buzzards soaring. Later a kestrel.

Are buzzards particularly active this time of year? As well as several groups whilst out cycling, having breakfast at home and heard the calls so went outside and a group of 3 circling short distance away.

Locally a pair have raised two young which are now flying and almost full sized so I could imagine they have long since started 'spreading their wings' and venturing further afield
