I've been browsing this book, I've probably not looked at it for a couple of years


Lego has some curious facts stated (book released in 2009)
1. Circa 440 billion bricks have been produced since its inception, that's 62 for every person on the planet
(36,000 items a minute are produced)
2. There are (apparantly) 900 million ways of using six standard '8-stud' bricks of the same colour
(who calculates this!?)
3. Circa 306 million tyres are produced every year, making Lego, the worlds largest tyre manufacturer

4. Enough 'Mini-Figures' have been produced to be claimed as the 'worlds largest ethnic group'

If you use google transcription to turn your voice to text, it will render 'militarise' as 'Italy', however precisely you pronounce it. A word which, at the risk of labouring the point, is apart from anything else two syllables shorter.

That's really depressing if you consider that the majority of those 440 billion ended up chucked in the bin. Think of how much plastic waste that is. And then consider that Lego is probably an infinitesimally tiny contributor to the overall global amount of plastic waste.

Once it has reached terminal velocity any additional height is irrelevant.

It does depend on what it landed on. On a lawn, probably; on a sharp/hard object, probably not.

Sounds like BS to me.

Its true. The mass to surface ratio is such that terminal velocity for a mouse would be unlikely to exceed 30mph, which could well be survivable.

The bigger you are, the more mass you have in relation to your surface area, the less aerodynamic braking you will endure. A humans terminal velicity will be in the order of 120mph, an elephant around 180mph.

Without an atmosphere a mouse, human and elephant would accelerate due to gravity at the same rate.
