Oh and I used to love painting warhammer miniatures too, never seemed to look as good as they did in the mags though?

Photography, have a look if you're willing to overlook the terrible, horrible url. It was a mistake I made when I was younger :shy:

Camping and camp craft type things, though I have noone to go with so dont get the chance :sad:Might convince my girlfriend into coming camping back home in snowdonia in summer at some point

Used to love camping too, we used to load the bikes and pedal off for a couple of days. All stopped when we got married though.

Some nice photos although black and white landscape is not really my cup of tea TBH. And there is far too much blue sky visable for wales. I persuaded mine to camp in the Beacons last January anything is possible. I like to go hill walking and wild camping in Mid Wales when I can less so now though probably due to having a baby, not personally I should add lacking the required pieces.

Here is a more accurate portrait of a Welsh mountain view IME.
Horrid cheap camera and heavily compressed mind.

Gardening. Love it. I volunteer at a community garden on a friday morning and am there all times of year, in all weathers - unlike my cycling....
Doesn't give me all that much time for my own garden, but i get it done.
The other 'hobby' i have is a part time PhD. I'm in year 5 of 6, so it's a long haul thing.
I play guitar too, and once the PhD is finished would like to learn the banjo...... and get a mandolin.

My main hobby after cycling is Warhammer 40K, i have spent too much time and money on it in the last few years! i also love Rugby union, played for a local team for a season or two (Ashley down old boys) but due to work have had to stop training and playing! i will try my hand at most things once (just built my own pc and upgraded a few others, tried musical instruments, tried running and football (hamstrings keep going or i get shin splints) but i also love fiddling with cars!

im considering an 0 gage model railway but before i do anything else the wife has said i need all my warhammer painted properly!

Mind-bogglingly expensive!

Best to go up a gauge to G, it's a lot cheaper.

One thing I spend quite a bit of time on, and a helluva lot of money is Warhammer 40,000 modelling. I also have been playing since around 2nd edition...mostly play as Space Marines, although I had a reasonable go at Orcs but I couldnt get on with just being shot to death before reaching my opponent! We never seem to put enough terrain down and a 6+ save just doesnt cut it! But I've also dabbled in Chaos, Sisters of Battle, Daemon Hunters and Necron.

I mostly just collect the models though...I'm quite well known for trying silly conversions tho...like a squad of vanguard all with lightning claws and more more recent attempts to mount two thunderfire cannons on a razorback!

...

I used to dabble in that too. and like you, it was more the models then the game. I made a great tank which consisted of the front cockpit section from a model of the Blue Thunder helicopter mounted between two huge great WWI style tank tracks.

current hobbies include trying to play the guitar, designing and occasionally building furniture and writing short stories.

Fishing and Football.
Haven't been fishing now for a couple of years now.
Was big into Carp fishing and Sea Fishing. Fished since I was a small lad.
Football, have been watching Chelsea play since 1974. I recently gave up my season ticket which I had held for 15 years due to disillusion of the game. Have been to a couple of games this season but do not miss it.
So that just leave Cycling as no:1 hobby now.

Oxymoron ? ;)

Literature, writing poems and short stories. I was also once a re-enactor of the American Civil War period and I still, very occasionally, launch a Medium-Power model rocket to altitudes of around 2000 feet.

But nothing beats the freedom of a bike, well, maybe one thing does...:smooch:

I'd love to have a go at SCUBA diving. Maybe they have 'try-outs' around here - are they run at local swimming pools, maybe?
Generally they do. You could try contacting your local SCUBA club (probably listed on BSAC's website) and talk to them - no doubt they'll do try dive nights where you can go along and give it a whirl. It's okay in a pool, but nothing like the "real thing".

I enjoy various shotgun shooting endeavours, informal clays, pest control on local farms, & the occasional day after game. I also use a .22 rifle and airguns. I like cooking & sharing what I shoot with friends and family, and playing electric bass or blues harmonica. Also establishing a vegetable patch in the garden this year. I wish my wife had more hobbies/interests but with 3 kids we both prefer to spend time with the family at the moment.
