Modest ride XC on the singlespeed with my son, who's only 6, but can hack a fairly flat 20 miler, give some chokkie and a stop in the middle.

Worth going out for the two "youfs" on Orange and Whytes who just stared at my SS as if I were riding the amimated corpse of Elvis Presley.

After a ride with my new girlfriend, we went out on our bikes and did a 70 km in marvellous weather.

It was the furthest by far she'd done for a year, but she managed very well (it was somewhat hilly on the 2nd third of the journey).

But I think she'll be feeling it tomorrow.

At last I have a girlfriend who likes and enjoys cycling!

I didn't get out on my bike this weekend  as I've been playing nursemaid to my wife who is just out of hospital after a minor operation.

I've had a good 2 days this weekend did a few extra days work so in keyworth a 36 mile round trip in the country side and virtuly car free bloody lovely, seen my fellow roadies and gave a cheerful nod and HI.

Had my worst nightmare come true though, I had a spider the size of a dinner plate in my helmet but I didn’t know till I could feel it move, what’s that I thought took helmet off and there it was, in blind panic (I don’t like them) I was waving my helmet about like a loon only for it land on my chest all most screamed like a girl, so now im trying to get it off again waving my helmet about I felt soooo dirty.

Did an 87 mile ride with longers. Longers wasn't there the whole time but me, Dan Bo and Longers met up and did Holme Moss. It was scorching out there later on. Did this climb over the A635 for the first time. No wonder the Manchester lot don't mind meeting up in Holmfirth!

Nice climb innit mate.

72 miles today at 19mph average, seem to go quicker in the sunshine
fairly slow on the out leg due to a p**cture (not me thank fully)
really cranked it up on the way back, and by the time we hit the north downs all but 3 others had been blown away, i blew two more away on the final climb, and then i managed to out sprint the last guy to get back to the start first, FTW!

Marin Rough Ride today, hellish tough but great fun. 45 miles of big hills [ er mountains ] wicked descents . It was hot enough for me to stop and splash about in the streams a couple of times.

I used the cross bike and got booed a few times when I out climbed some full sus riders , ha ha.. but they came past going down the hills . The crosser is insane for rocky descents and my upper body is aching more than my legs now.
I won a Carradice seat pack .. which was nice

Great event and recommended for masochists .. .

85 miles doing The Dragon today.

It started with the usual traffic chaos trying to get into the one car park entrance. But eventually we made it in and all met up. The weather was a little overcast but by the time we made it to the start it was bright sunshine. And it stayed like that all day. Fabulous!

The new start position was much better than the old, no small farm track to negotiate, and in no time we were off on the new route out of Pencoed. No longer was it the gentle start of the common over to Brynceithin, it was down towards Llantrisant and a climb out over the side of the mountain till we got to the A4093 which we followed back to Blackmill and back onto the old route once more. I have to say I thought the ride was better for this new inclusion, but the were a lot of mutterings going on to the contrary.

The rest of the ride flew by, especially the drag down to Neath from Glynneath.By all accounts the peleton that developed behind three other riders, 515mm and myself after we'd taken up pace setting duties and picked riders up as we went passed was quite a sight according to Fairweather and Allda Pies who bravely stayed in the rear.:tongue:

Chapaeu to Fairweather for finishing so well despite looking like death after coming off Bwlch 2. Another one for 515mm for beating his time from last year by quite a large margin and for not keeling over at the finish. And not forgetting Allda Pies, whose first Dragon this was and loved almost every second of it!
