My ride didn't go exactly to plan today as I cramped up
keeping up with a mate on his new Izoard after a mere 20 miles and had to settle for a slowish one lap of the BHF Gower bike ride instead of the planned two.

60 miles early this morning - I left the house at 6.30
. Did the Hamilton-Strathaven-Muirkirk-Douglas-Lanark loop. Roads were pretty quiet. Weather was a bit dreich with a strong easterly wind at parts. Still I was happy with my performance as my average speed was nearly 18mph.

What a mix today 
It rained, it was windy, it was looking like no ride,but then a gap came and i went for it, although overdressed in case i got caught in some probable rain...which i didnt...so i overheated a bit instead 
It occured to me we (well i) am cycling through some lovely countryside,just once in a while you realise it, so i had to take a snap, although it's only on a wee digital camera...
Shame it doesnt really let you see the rolling hills into the distance...very pretty. The horizon you can see is probably about 5 to 10 miles from where i am standing.
So 26 miles, for once reasonably sheltered from the 18 mph winds, heavy going occasionally, but managed nearly 17mph average.
I was only back 10 minutes....and it started raining

I'd like to say it happens to the best of us...but i dont fit into that category anyway 
Keep your concentration......it can be bloody dangerous not to.
On a long long straight in the country, on the drops (which is relatively new to me..i dont normally bother). I raised myself to get on the hoods, and as i lifted one hand off the drops and pulled it up, caught the handlebar....and went skittering across the road in an instant Held it together, but only just.
Thank christ there was nothing behind me...

Had a ride yesterday, this one, starting in Tananger. Just over an hour on the ships bike, a Carrera Subway. Shared use paths all the way round not something I'd use in UK, but then I doubt I could find a route like it just using paths like that.
Warm sun, cool breeze.. Hills and a lake - stunning scenery.
Passed a roadie in full lycra (me with rack and panniers - extra points)
Small beach at #12 on the map. People swimming. Girls in bikinis.
Got passed near end of ride by 2 women in lycra shorts. Couldn'y keep up, but couldn't think of anything but THAT thread.
A bike, a good route, weather, scenery.

Nice ride today. Windy, did a few of the big hills around here. Saw a dead mole, had to think what the bloody hell it was though Head wind all the way back, down to 14mph at one stage, was going up a bit of a hill though. Hurt abit, but was very nice
Nothing too exciting happened, a guy stood on a level crossing and watched me coming up to it and go over it No idea why
Average speed abit low, 17.77mph i think it was so its rest time tomorrow, legs hurting abit after the ride yesterday and the TT.
Yesterday, we had a new guy out in baggy's on an old road bike, was a nice bike. After about 3/4 miles he was lagging, we were going slow. Firt hill i turned arond and looked back(was at the front, not many out) he was bright red and off the back. He turned off with one of the guys that has medical problems at the moment afte about 10miles. The speed then shot straight up, bombing along doing about 23mph. Only 4 of us, one old guy setting the pace. I did 10miles on the front and someone else went on and did about 3miles on the front. I went back on, then decied to stuff it and just sat behind him and weformed a line. Speed slowed down slightly then. Saw the cafe and i went sprinting off with one of the otherolder guys trying to give chace. Got there first after oing about 30mph down a section of the A52. On the way back, the speed was lower, me and the woman that was out was on the front on the way back,was the short way Anywaynear the end i picked the speed up and said bye. Got caught up by the guy that was setting the speed before and he sat behind me for about 6miles. He then came past, laste 1 mile then just pretty much stopped dead. I went around him andcruised along at 20mph with a slightly headwind
He blew ou on the first half, we managed to drop him at one stage, and we werent even powering it.
Only a 51 mile ride yesterday

Today I rode 75 miles on my tourer in the sunshine. It was fab - twice over the Leicestershire alps! By the way if you were the welland valley cc member on the giant roadie who overtook us very grumpily at Billesdon I'm sorry you were eventually chased down by a girl on an ultragalaxy. No really I am

I limited my ride to 76.3 miles as I wanted to get back for the live tour de France but I really enjoyed my ride.

Had some gorgeous rides this weekend. Went to Tadcaster yesterday - had a tailwind all the way but didn't realise, so thought I was God's gift to cycling and had a rude awakening on the way home!! Today went off on an Otley loop and climbed Otley Chevin very slowly in the bright sunshine. Heaven on a bike today.

Only two of us went out today, the weather didn't look very promising at the start, it even rained for a couple of minutes, but it brightened up by the time we got to Llanelli.
We did 64 miles, it could of been longer but we wanted to get back to see the TdF.
We met another roadie on an old steel frame, looked like he had at most 12 speeds, and down tube shifters. But he was going at a fair rate. Rode with him for a good few miles before he turned off toward Porthyrhyd. Definite chapeau to him today.

A gloriously sunny 57 miles round Garstang, Pilling, Stalmine, Knott End, etc. -half of it just me and Jane, the other half a guided trip with some guys from Garstang Cycling Club. Easy pace, really nice guys, nice pint at the end and overall a great day out!
