Did a little over 30 this morning, out at 7 o'clock in the dark for a venture around Crewe & Nantwich. Trundling around a country lane I could hear a peeping sound......... it was a motorbike herding cows along the road I was on It looked like a stampede heading towards me so I slammed the brakes on and had to get up the embankment For the next few yards there was cow 5hit everywhere!!

It then started to rain so I headed for home. I went through Silverdale traffic lights. If you were one of the 10 club riders waiting there for your boyfriends, who ignored me again when I waved you'll never get any new riders you bunch of sour faced b*****ds

I then had to spend an hour scrubbing rock hard cow crap off my frame & forks. Apart from that it was a lovely ride.

Why did you use the MTB

Because my mate took out the other one other night and she messed with it and I have yet to sort it out.

I was practising mountain biking. Took the day off on Friday and went for a local ride around Melton, which was hilarious because of the mud. Yesterday I went to the peak district and rode 5 passes: roman road, lockerbrook, cut throat bridge, crook hill and the roman road again, but with a different approach. Both of the rides I did on my hardtail, which only has 100mm of front travel, to get my technique up to scratch again. The climbing was fantastic and the descending improved once I'd got the pressure right in my tyres and wasn't going down tracks like a ping pong ball. Only went over the bars once - on the hagg farm descent, but I am rather battered and bruised today

I deliberately didn't follow the arrows for the bhf charity ride in order to do that,even though the detour probably dropped me a couple of places (wasn't a race, so i'm not bothered!)

I've never crashed on hagg farm in 8 years of riding it - until Saturday! In my defence it was raining, getting dark, msot of the rocks were hidden under wet leaves, and those which were exposed were covered in green slime.

Only 23miles today at a slow 17.36mph average. Got absolutly soaked. Stopped for a pee and to put my lights on(was getting dark and it was drizzling) and put my new BLT light on the back. Went off and it flew off the back. Not happy, £17 of light fall off. Looked forward and there was a van coming, and a van behind. Luckily both vans slowed down, and the one coming slowed down and drove around my light, the other slowed down and drove around it. Thanked the one that came past me. Light now has some war wounds on already, but its bloody bright and was happy i had it when it was raining hard and there was lots of sprey. Did some good fixed skids though on the wet roads, lots of fun

Embarrassed myself today

Commute from work...a bit squally ( i like that word, blustery and wet...got it from my dad who was a marine artist)...
No problem, who minds getting wet occasionally ....until i adjusted my rucksack, my clip on LED light fell off and smashed all over the floor...then as i bent over to pick it all up, my mobile fell out of my pocket and skittered all over the road
FFS i mouthed out loud...just as a lady on a tourer went past

When i caught her up, i laughed and apologised in case she didnt realise why i was cussing. She was ok with it...she had seen me getting in a mess

Short ride, but as usual, very enjoyable.

14 miles commuting today.
An alarming creaking and cracking from the front couple of miles in ...full carbon fork area . Rode gingerly to the LBS (after giving it the once over, then thinking about it, tightening the top cap bolt on the aheadset...to no avail)
Quick check over, yes, the expanding tube inside the carbon steerer was a little loose. Soon sorted.
It was going to be a 20 - 25 miler, but methinks a visit to the LBS was more important.

My handlebars on the fixed are creaking. Its abit worrying, when i pull on them they crack(sounds more of a cracking creak) and its sometimes wont creak on the other side two times in a row, has to be one side then the other. Well sounds like its one side then the other.
I did 38miles today 2:06:04 on the fixed with the strong wind. Hard ride, really hurt at times. Strong wind up the hill which killed me.

Went for a very short ride yesterday night, just over three miles and got very wet, fortunatly I was well covered up with wet weather gear so it was only on the outside. Did the same ride tonight and was dry but cold which I prefer. Tomorrow night clean, dry and relube bike before it gets to dark to see in the garage.

Normal commute in (3.5 miles each way), first time this autumn in the dark tho'. Nearly had a head-on collision on an unlit cyclepath with a runner + POB combo travelling in the opposite direction, both clad entirely in black and without a light between them . Not easy for runners to carry lights but no excuse for the bicycle.
