Hopefully that my good deeds coefficient filled for a while. Got a call from my mum her telly box was needing fixed (her knee is broken too :-( ) So I dodged the rain and headed over there into a swift head wind averaging 16.2mph and fixed it. Of course the wind was behind me on the way back and I managed to average 18.6mph on the winter/ soon to be retired bike.

retire your bike my way ;)

20 odd mile extended commute tonight...
No idea of the exact mileage, i took my computer off last year. Its kind of refreshing. No looking at the average speed all the time, no thinking 'bloody hell..is that all ive done' etc etc etc.
If its a good ride, i'll map it and calculate my average speed...otherwise, ride , enjoy and dont worry about it.

Nasty session on the turbo trainer:angry::wacko: A crappy old turbo that is like going up a 1 in 25 slope , just enough to be a drag.
Tonights hilly time trial was called off so I did a ten in the front room, 25mins 30 ish secs... if I went that hard in real life I would be doing 23 minute tens on flat courses but I would have to be listening to some punk on the mp3 player:biggrin:

TT again tonight, nice and dry heading out there, shortly before it was my time to set off on the TT it started with heavy rain, 10 mile TT and I'm pretty disappointed in it @ 25:56.

Another oddly fast day, 20.6mph avg over 55miles.

I should be happy with the result as it's my first flat TT this year but I'm not aiming for close to 26mins my goals are 24's and lower.

Time is tight at the moment and the finess levels have dropped off not having been on the bike for just over a month - chest infection. Went out yesterday evening for a quick 20m on a well tested lumpy loop (1200 feet of up) should have been back in about about 1h 20m ish, rolled on 2 hours later suffered on the hills and had 10 miles back into a stiff 17 mph westerly the long steady climb home. OK everyone has a bad on every now and again.

Planned to do 50m this morning, wind (17mph gusting 20 +) was from the WSW so golden rule 1 applies, ride out into the wind. Took about 6 miles before I got into any rhythm, wind was throwing me all over the place, small rise put me in to the red zone anyway persevered onwards and upwards.

Got to 17 m on the outwards leg and decided to turn for home. Hills I would normally power over had me on the granny ring, could not get comfortable (first time out on a shorter stem 120mm >100mm) and it started to rain; so happy in the knowledge that I would have at least 10m with the wind at my back I tried to pick up the pace. Gave up when a small chatty CTC group flashed passed me it as if I was standing still, averaged a mighty 15 mph for the last 10. It was POO.

Fairly easy 70 mile potter out to Winchcomb today with the club. Seemed to have a tail wind all the way round .... which was nice.. wet shoes all day due to early rain though which wasn't so nice.

Massive downpour near Defford that had us cowering behind a parked Landrover... knew they were useful for something:biggrin:

Average speed 15.4 but one of the guys is a bit slow and we had to drop the speed to accommodate his sloth

Managed a leisurely 41 miles and for the most part avoided the rain too. Wanted to get some miles in as I'm away on a course this week and have the CC TdF run next weekend.

Developed a squeak which I thought initially was coming from the bottom bracket, but wasn't able to track it down. Got really annoying but didn't seem to affect the ride. But was getting worried that it might affect my ability to ride next weekend. Anyway when I got home I found the dust cap on my Time ATAC pedal had somehow disappeared, goodness knows how. As well as being a dust cap it seems to also hold the pedal centred on the spindle.

Anyway at least I know it was nothing more serious, should be okay for the weekend. Phew!

I had a lazy day today; I cycled to my folks yesterday and watch the tdf today (I liked that stage ) afterwards I paid a visit to my sister's less than 1.5 miles away. That wind was strong, I averaged 20mph on the way out even with all the Pelicans active and only 15.6 on the way back. I then had tea and cycled the 16.5miles home and the wind was behind me for about 1/2

5 mile commute, then a 23 mile round trip to a mate's house to see his newborn daughter. Cute.

On the way I saw a bloke with a bike on the road, he was picking nettles and grass out of the spokes. He was wearing dirty jeans, an equally dirty sweatshirt, and a prize-winning dirty jacket.

"Don't fall into that ditch, mate" he offered slurringly as I rode by.

The clothes were a hint, the gaunt, sallow, ashen face with deep set dark-ringed eyes told me all I needed to know.

"Smackhead" I cheerily replied, before riding on.

OK so it was actually yesterday but I crave your indulgence.

Did a couple of laps of Richmond Park , got fed up with the howling gale , exited through Roehampton Gate , up to Trafalgar Square , watched the fourth plinth for a while , http://www.oneandother.co.uk/ #oneandother on twitter , back to RP for another couple of laps , 63 miles

Low point , seeing a bike lying near an ambulance in RP
