Personal best today on the roadie. 55 miles, we was doing around 90 miles but my right knee had problems at about 40 miles in so at 55 I quit so I didn't damage it.

I think I love my bike already

Pics......

Out for a hilly 32 miles - rather warm, but windy. Quick circuit round Woodford before climbing to Potts Shrigley, Brickworks (nice tail wind until near the top when you swing round for the farm, then hit a wall of pain.....and a stiff headwind), quick descent then climbing again to the top of Disley (great views, but could see the rain sweeping in from Cheshire - everywhere just dissapeared) down to New Mills, Marple, and just 2-3 miles from home hit damp roads, but no rain.....phew.

On the red bike Fossy?

Pics will have to wait, need to tweak a few things first, but it does ride very nicely.

68 miles through Wotton-Under-Edge, Didmarton, Slaughterford (was as horrible as it sounds), Ditteridge, Wick and Warmley. Chose a really bad route and ended up going down a long steep hill covered in manure, had quite a few sphincter moments! Then had to go up the other side in a very narrow, muddy lane with potholes. Rear wheel was all over the place. Then almost got taken out by a car on a blind corner and almost had a clipless incident. Anyway, survived my longest ever ride, some photos (apologies for rubbish phone camera quality):

I and 1200 other souls did the Lap the Lough yesterday which covered 86 miles. The weather was dull to start with then got quite windy on the northern side of Lough Neagh and then the rain started and it lashed down for most of the remaining 35-40 miles. It was a well organised event but marred by the tragic death of one of the participants from a suspected heart attack 5 miles from the finish. It cast a real shadow over everyone and our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends.

I didn't ride today. Instead, I did something I used to do all the time but now havent't done for years. I did a fell race! I wondered how it would go but as soon as the gun went, I was off and all the old competitive spirit came flooding back. I pushed and pushed and got really stuck in and despite my five year or so lay off, I managed to come fifth. Which was nice.

My last objective of the year, 100 under 6 hours, done

Never got out yesterday as I had too many beers and did not get to bed till 0630 and was still legless at 0915 when I got up for the ride, so I never went. Only went to bed late as I got a bit confused, thought it was morning when I got home instead of only about 0300 so did not go to bed as it would soon be time for my ride with the lads after a little nap and finally realised that it was only light because the curtains were shut and all the lights were on and sadly I could not tell the time as I could not see the clock properly.

Anyway got out for a ride today into Lincolnshire to check the Wolds out, only planned on 86 miles, things looked good and I might achieve my final objective of the year, 100 miles under 6 hours, a good fresh head wind occasionally pummelled me for about 3 and a half hours but when I got the wind behind me it was a just over 50 mile dash for just under 2 and a half hours to manage 5 hours 50 mins for 100 miles.

Saddest part was I had to go sailing past home to do the extra mileage whilst I was hurting badly and then eventually turn back into the wind to get the last couple of miles and then to limp home for another 10 miles into the wind.

The screw that fixed my rack to my bike fell off yesterday, so I went to my LBS to get a new one. Couldn't be bothered with taking the bus, used a piece of string to attach the rack to the bicycle instead and pedalled there
Nice and smooth today, too, apart from some head wind moments. Sometimes I think I should have gotten myself a heavier bike, as the wind tends to push me to the barriers and I worry that I might end up on them one day.
Was hoping to try my new rain-proof jacket again - and, surprise, surprise, the expected heavy rain was nowhere to be seen. Oh well. Never trust the Met Office.
