Ride out into the Wolds I think it was, keeping my max HR under 165 or trying to, the A1079 was abit scary so I just put the power down to get off that awfull road ASAP, I went up worsendale road which leads up to the A166 and that was a tough climb, I proceeded to go forward into the Howardian Hills, where I fly went straight down my throat at about 20mph. Onto the straight of Castle Howard I went, then off to Bulmer, down Bulmer Bank and up it into Sherrif Hutton and then to Strensall and a stop at Haxby Cycles to fill my bottles up and through york to bishopthrope onto the trans pennine trail up to a bridge onto Cawood road that comes from Escrick, up a bit of a drag, down a nice drag and past stillingfleet to Kelfield, back to Cawood and Home, feel quite refreshed.

The PDF of Peter Reads Black Book that is popular made me try and keep my HR between 155 and 165 and whilst I struggled to do that it certainly helped not going all out for once.

One of the two most insane, stupid, lunatic encounters i've ever had on my bike tonight.....you'll have to excuse the expletives.
Just left work for an extended commute, nothing in front on my side, nothing behind, several cars oncoming, but no biggie, its a 30mph urban road.
I looked down at the road, looked up....:ohmy::ohmy: a black Audi (i think) with a turbaned Indian bearing right down on me at 50 to 60 mph..on my side of the road.
And then he was gone. i didnt even have time to react...i just saw his fixed look as he went past...hopefully he was thinking 'shiiiiiiiit'.
He cant have not seen me..i'd got hiviz on and the road was clear. He must have been in one hell of a rush.
50 to 60mph straight at me...well..one foot away from me.

I managed a 'w-anchor' gesture at him. There was a guy sitting at the side of the road...'jesus chriiiist' i heard him say as i went past.

The funny thing...i didnt even get angry (he was gone anyway)...i just rode on and though 'w-anchor'. Didnt spoil my ride at all...shrug of the shoulders sort of thing. Its the same in a car sometimes...someone does something stupid and you think 'twat'...and other times you explode.

Apart from that ...a 'normal' ride.

I popped out round the block to check my seat was the right height after
fettling session on my new to me bike - no pics yet Fossy.

And came back after nearly 30k of hilly lane bashing round Saddleworth in the sunshine and a pint of local beer.

It was < ------------------------------------------------------------->

that good

A nice little cycle into the town about 12 miles there and back. Had to take some ID to the B/S - even though they've known me for 25 years!!!!! Weather glorious & did my daughterly duty & called at elderly parent. Wish I could get my hands on some of the bike gear in the garage!

110km with Dave Gorman accompanying me. A great days ride!

That sounds interesting. Any more details?

I could have taken some today with some glorious scenery but I messed up last week - two 18's are not 32 - and it's not quite properly ready yet. I'm worried the end result will be totally underwhelming for you after all this suspense.

I did sit and gaze at it a lot when at the pub though

My ride was ruined today by my chain jumping/slipping in the lower gears and then jamming 3 times behind the cassette. Nothing seemed to work to remedy it. I'm going to just take the effin thing apart, I think it's the rear mech that's the problem. I'm wondering if I've somehow inadvertantly bent the hanger. It's long overdue a cable change as well so may as well go the lot in one go. I'll give all my love and attention to one of my other two bikes in the interim as this one doesn't deserve it!

I was going to go for a 100 being as it was a nice day and all that. I got fed up in the end and headed home, Garmin says 62.32 miles. I did have a nice time when I stopped for lunch. Stopped off at the resevoir and sat in the sun watching the swans.

My ride home today was great, almost 25 miles & not once was I close passed, cut up, etc. got a few shaking heads after taking primary for the more dangerous sections of road but that's nothing to be writing home about & to be expected from car drivers without a clue about cycling.

Shade under 20 miles today...they say it comes in threes ;)
Nice ride, approaching a slight pinch point after some traffic lights, and a red car gets his nose alongside me at low speed...too close.
I had started to get into something like primary, but had to abort as the front of the car came alongside. I guess my positioning was a little half hearted, but even so. So a smack on the window as it passed (probably 10 to 15 mph)...it wasnt a him..it was a her, hand on mouth in shock and she put her hand up to apologise. Hopefully she'll think twice before doing it again.

I always enjoy the buzz of riding in traffic, but it brings it's perils at times.

Beautiful weather...

I was out with Yenrod of this parish today, about 70 miles into Cheshire stopping off at Summertrees cafe near Kelsall and another stop near the end of the ride at Eureka Cyclists Cafe. Great day out, great company, cheers Lee!
