A few weeks ago, I needed to replace two pair of bib shorts - I looked on the Prendas website and found them; my size and just £21.45/pair. I must admit to being a bit disappointed when they arrived - they were white! Who had made a mistake, Prendas or me? I had - my size were only available in white.
Our rainy season is almost over and we have not had rain for about 36 hours so today's plan was - road bike, Peugot top and thw new white shorts. P*nct*re after 3 kms, changed tube and off I went again for another 2 kms and the same thing happened (Before you ask, yes, I did check the inside of the tyre and the rim!). I always take at least 2 spare tubes and a p*nct*re kit. The second tube would not inflate so I hailed a cab and went home. My wife has my bank card, I only have a few hundred Baht in my pocket and keep about 1000 Baht (about £18) at home in the 'emergency fund' in case I have to get a taxi home and have no money.with me.
I phoned my wife to call the LBS to see if they had a pair of 700x23 tyres in stock and the price of them; the tyres were coming to the end of their useful life so I decided to change them. I'm OK face to face in the LBS with a mixture of English and Thai but not on the phone. Two tyres were 900 Bant (£16.46) so I got the emergency money and went down on the hybrid. With tyres strapped on the rack, I came home the long way round - the short, direct way up Lat Phrao Road at that time of day is a nightmare!
The p*nct*res would have to happen when I was wearing white shorts - with black shorts, you can wipe your mucky havds on them and no-one is any the wiser but with white shorts...Fortunately, I always have a pack of baby wipes with me!

Just spent a long weekend in Derbyshire and biked out and about near Matlock up to Buxton down to Tissington, Ashbourne, Wirksworth and back to Matlock. Lovely riding but some steep and relentless hills (by my local standards!). Not sure how far but I think my average speed was half of what it usually is...pant wheeze!

20 miles today fastests I have done, does getting in the slip stream of a tractor count?? it was great, traffic stuck behind us, a good steady 25 mph for about 8 miles, I'm sure I could see the farmer laughing his head off  I smiled all the way home.

Streatham Hill to Whitstable, by way of a recce ride. And worth doing, if for no other reason than a part of the Sittingbourne ring road has decided to fall in.

It wasn't stylish. My thighs, normally the strongest part of the Dellzeqq equipage, burnt, and almost gave out entirely on one small rise. My body temperature yo-yo'd. And there were times when I tried to rise from the saddle, and the arms and bum just didn't want to play.

Having said that 5hrs 10 for a bit shy of 70 miles isn't too bad, if you account for the traffic in southeast London and a breakfast stop at Andy's cafe (cheese and ham scrambled eggs, beans and chips that were really very nice). And I felt stronger going across the Graveney marshes than I did in Woolwich, although the last two miles in to Whitstable on that dreadful road surface did take it out of me.

Stopped at the Waterfront briefly, and then made my way to the station - and that's when I really did feel it. Home, hosed, and shattered.

Lovely commute in the autumn sun Wilmslow to Macc via Prestbury thought it would be easier than going over Alderley Edge but found it harder. Return at sunset over Alderley, hit 40 coming down the hill before losing my bottle. Good ride and saw a few others which isn't always the case.

back and forth to donate blood (in work time). Ride was noteable for seeing a dead dog in the gutter beside the A6. It looked like a Staffy, must have been hit by a car. Poor thing!
Oh and two nights ago I had to go the long way around as the police had closed off the bridge over the Ribble I normally use. It turns out that someone had jumped into the river and not come back out. An apparent suicide of a man in his 20s. Poor bloke.

not been out for 3-4 weeks now.Full time care really is 24/7 Checked my mileage spreadsheet this morning and October was blank!

It was such a beautiful morning , calm and warm with occasional sunshine I couldn't find an excuse so donned my garb ,bid Father farewell and rode off into the mid day sun.

A very quick hilly 10 mile and the best time that I have ever achieved ? My advice for training based on that would be, lounge around the house for 4 weeks

Got out with the uni club today, we rode 8 miles out to the training circuit (around 1.5 miles long) to do interval sprint training, 4 laps at an easy pace, a 4 lap TT style, 4 laps of slow pace with random 15 second sprint races then 4 laps of hald race pace/half recovery and 8 mile ride home. All in the dark, was fun though!

So it was you! My uncle is a farmer and he says he got followed by a laughing nutter on a pushbike, he was so scared that he drove right past the farm and carried on in the hope of seeing a Police car.

Went out last night for the first time in many months with the MTB club, having fitted new BB and Hollowtech SLX cranks to the MTB. It was a short ride but masses of mud and mayhem, only fell off once and that was into deep heather. Didn't like the 170mm ctanks though; hope I can get used to them because both ends have been bashed on rocks now.
