Living Legend & Old Fart
A few weeks ago, I needed to replace two pair of bib shorts - I looked on the Prendas website and found them; my size and just £21.45/pair. I must admit to being a bit disappointed when they arrived - they were white! Who had made a mistake, Prendas or me? I had - my size were only available in white.
Our rainy season is almost over and we have not had rain for about 36 hours so today's plan was - road bike, Peugot top and thw new white shorts. P*nct*re after 3 kms, changed tube and off I went again for another 2 kms and the same thing happened (Before you ask, yes, I did check the inside of the tyre and the rim!). I always take at least 2 spare tubes and a p*nct*re kit. The second tube would not inflate so I hailed a cab and went home. My wife has my bank card, I only have a few hundred Baht in my pocket and keep about 1000 Baht (about £18) at home in the 'emergency fund' in case I have to get a taxi home and have no money.with me.
I phoned my wife to call the LBS to see if they had a pair of 700x23 tyres in stock and the price of them; the tyres were coming to the end of their useful life so I decided to change them. I'm OK face to face in the LBS with a mixture of English and Thai but not on the phone. Two tyres were 900 Bant (£16.46) so I got the emergency money and went down on the hybrid. With tyres strapped on the rack, I came home the long way round - the short, direct way up Lat Phrao Road at that time of day is a nightmare!
The p*nct*res would have to happen when I was wearing white shorts - with black shorts, you can wipe your mucky havds on them and no-one is any the wiser but with white shorts...Fortunately, I always have a pack of baby wipes with me!
