It got to 4 o'clock and I was meant to be on the road an hour earlier. Got changed, then looked outside and everywhere was a blanket of white. Damn I thought. Ahh, idea, lets go out on a snowy epic on the cross bike. Fell off twice, scared lots of peds, and had lots of old grannies shouting at me that I'm a tit. But it was sooo much fun. So yeah, people out there in Redditch, don't laugh at me for going out on the snow, cus you got stuck in the snow on the hills and I didn't so in your face
21 miles today. Supposed to be pleasant if somewhat hilly. Got snowed on though.
Not as bad as yesterday when the freezing fog condensed, then froze on my groin. There's a lovely picture on facebook...
Circa 20 miles this afternoon...the first 'decent' mileage for ages after a sickness bug has left me somewhat weakened. Very slow and steady...i'm lucky there were no BSO riders en route...they'de have probably overtaken me
Sun shining, so out came the best bike for some hills. Just 25 miles but 2500 ft of climbing - no flat sections at all. Legs and body/arms felt stiff all the way round, should have put my windproof kit on. Long 40 mph descent of Chunal into Glossop nearly froze me.
Put my shorts on and went for a ten mile climb up the big hill to get warm. Nippy with snow and icy roads but so crisp and clear. The porridge I scoffed before leaving did the trick!
Met three other nutters who were all friendly today!
Short, wet & cold; slushy snow froze in the rear cassette & front mech on the first downhill section, meaning I couldn't change gear... no f**king way I was going to continue stuck on a 127" gear.
