Not from my ride today, but a week ago ........... Sorry, but the delay was due to recovery from the shock!
Let me explain........
I'd only just left home, and in the first mile, I was going along a quiet country lane, and I knew there were no other vehicles nearby.
Suddenly, there was an enormous 'WHOOSHING' noise, and I was totally discombobulated. Was a super-car (lambo or similar) coming from behind at about 90MPH? I took to the grass verge as a Tornado fighter jet flew over the hedge! The noise was phenomenal. It must have been at the lower altitude limit - It's the closest I've been to a jet I wasn't boarding.
Here in Norfolk, they are training most days, but usually so high up it's difficult to spot them.
I once flattened myself on the ground sure a Hercules was going to hit me.

I'm in the Picos at the moment so I had a ride and a hike today, a ride of around 18km and a hike of about 7.5km.
The ride out was fine the first bit about 3km offroad and mostly down hill followed by 6km on the road again mostly down hill, I must say the brakes are getting a good workout. Then it was a hike, two reasons the first they don't allow bikes and the second you wouldn't want to take your bike. Followed by a Menu Del Dia to refuel for the return which I stayed on the road as I didn't fancy some of the uphill offroad on the return.

All I can say is thank you for electricity, maybe 20 or 30 years ago with a lighter bike I could have done it but not now.

A late, short, impromptu utility ride today; weary and sore-of-arse after a relatively large amount of miles already covered this week.

Out into an appropriately bleak, overcast and deceptively chilly day; one small saving grace being the Fuji's buttery smooth drivetrain thanks the the newly fitted waxed chain.

Did the usual rounds with little of note other than scoring a few reductions from the supermarkets.

By far the best bit was emerging from M&S to find the bike had apparently been assigned a fearsome guard hound while I'd been inside

A little over 22 miles for about 120 on the rolling 7 day total and about 460 for 30 days. Not a record-breaker for the year so far but keeping my end up, while last week saw no riding towards the end of the week so any more before Sunday will serve to push the numbers up further

Now basking in the solitude of home; full of baked potato, cheese and tuna and thankfully feeling a bit less jaded about the state of the world than I did several hours ago.
