After riding from St Ives to meet up with my sister, we went for a pre-lunch walk from Grantchester to Trumpington thence on to Trumpington Meadows before heading to The Orchard Tea Gardens for a bite to eat before finishing our walk off across Grantchester Meadows & a coffee at the Red Lion.

Sister dropped me & my Brommie off at Trumpington Park and Ride so I could get back to my car at St Ives.

6 miles walked, chatting all the way round, and managing to keep out of the muddy bits across the Meadows. 👍

We popped into Millers Yard café for refreshments half way round.
Bonnie loves going there as she gets fussed over, a free sausage & a treat on the way out 👍

About 3¼ miles in all with all the joys of de-mucking a white dog 😂

Winter Solstice Wander this morning..
Pleasant walk around Boughton village, keeping away from my usual fieldside route as Bonnie was getting mucky enough without having to scrape even more mud off her!

Boughton Postbox.

Back via the local Farm shop to check they have plenty of stock for me to grab tomorrow morning when I ride there at opening time..

5 miles walked with Bonnie getting chucked (gently! 😋) into the bath for a de-gunge 😂

What was intended as a ‘standard’ early dog-walk. Coupled with a recce to see if I dare cycle later (Still unsure 😂) with the cold / heavy ground frost etc..ended up turning into a bit of a jaunt. In the conditions anyway !

“24mph winds and feeling like -9” my Strava weather app says (Shown on last pic) 😳😳

To be fair I’m an outdoor person. I was suitably dressed and really enjoyed it today 😁

That looks properly cold. I've only bottled out once on a walk, on North Dartmoor near East Mill Tor, when the easterly seemed to go straight through the 23 layers I had on, and I had to get off the moor much earlier than planned. If you remember Bruce Parry's programme 'Tribe', it really hit home when he admitted his greatest fear was cold, when he spent a period with a tribe in the Siberian tundra, and knowing that once you're cold right through, it's a horrible feeling.
