Longest walk (5.2 miles) for 10 days or so - after being ill; and taking a while to feel 100% again. Felt good to be out for a couple of early hours šŸ‘

3 & a bit miles this morning, starting clear before a few showers of rain then clear & dry for the last mile .
Only localish to Broughton with an extra dog as we're doggy-sitting the kiddies bonkers Cockerpoo while they're away for the weekend.

Lots of sniffing & checking out of the area, too.
Bonus rabbits to chase (I don't let them off their wander leads so they never get near 🐰 šŸ‡ )

Back home for porridge and coffee by just after 08:00

3.2 early miles; skirting around the tracks, trails and pathways of the local large Estate; and Theme park.

Sun was out, short sleeves were on and we didn’t see another single soul out walking. So solitude really was the prize for making the effort to get up and out early 😁

And I’m not saying we’re at all weird in Suffolk. But I did spot some new Pathway markings near home 🤣

Yesterday, after a ride from St Ives to Grantchester, sister & I went for a walk around Byron's Pool & Trumpington Meadows.
The Orchard Tearooms, our usual haunt, had oven problems so we ended up at the Green Man..

DSC_6267.JPG

As Id cycled across Grantchester Meadows, we decided to walk around it, too. It was fairly quiet, being a Monday, which was nice.. Ni cows yesterday, either!

Just under 6 miles walked before I got dropped off at Trumpington park & ride to use my Ol' Farts bus-pass for a free trip back to the car in St Ives..

Three great hikes over the weekend, posted individually..
Camping ar Knottlow Farm with my daughter from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning.
Weather 'changeable' & 'variable'. Shorts one day & evening: almost winter wear early Sunday morning!

Friday evening.

From the campsite via Monyash to Lathkill Dale & back via Ricklow quarry, a SSI, where we fid find a few fossils in the limestone.

DSC_6244.JPG

Lovely campsite! Not too busy & plenty of space. The Limestone Way runs straight through the site and is, in fact, directly behind the hedge we pitched up in the lee of.

DSC_6250.JPG

Moi and the first of many stiles...

DSC_6258.JPG

And bridges, too.

DSC_6264.JPG

With the recent lack of rainfall, the river eas quite low but still gurgled over the rocks nicely.

The 'steps' back down into the dale were incredibly steep!! Probably about 60° for most of the way.. A wee but scary to be honest 😳

DSC_6270.JPG

Once back to the tent, strawberries & cream and a coffee were most welcome šŸ‘

8¼ miles in all after we'd meandered around a bit.

Saturday was a fairly early start to park at Miller's Dale for a walk up Chee Dale across some fields to Monks Dale finishing off for a mile up the Monsal Trail to the car via the cafƩ for a cuppa.
The route was planned for Tideswell Dale but we decided to use Minks Dale instead.

It wasn't too tricky today but in wet conditions it could get a bit mucky I reckon!

The good thing about an early start is the lack of crowds šŸ˜Ž

A hobby of mine šŸ˜‚

DSC_6297.JPG

Monks Dale wasn't too much fun, if truth be told, due to Ash Dieback, the felled trees & rocky path were quite tiring to traverse. I wish we'd had stuck to the plan of Tideswell Dale!

Just over 9 miles walked before heading to Hathersage for a relaxing swim in the open air pool..

Sunday morning started with alarm @ 02:45 as we wanted to watch the sunrise from Magpie Mine that was a 3 mile walk from the campsite.

Magpie Mine, an old lead working..

DSC_6345.JPG

Not a colourful sunrise but still quite serene.
Until.......
DSC_6348.JPG

A rainstorm squalled in!!
Happily, we'd prepared for all conditions 😊

DSC_6353.JPG

High Low trig point was a bonus on the return leg..

Back to the campsite to make a coffee, pack stuff up & load the car ready for the drive home. The tents were still wet when we de-camped but an hour in the garden when we got back dried them out ready to put away.

Just under 7 miles plus a mile or so wander around Ashford in the Water on the way back.

First Morning of 10 in Marmaris, Turkey.

30c at 9.20am and 34c by 11.15am. Too much ā˜€ļø !

Very quiet here. Maybe the incredible (76% I heard ?) inflation and high prices [Same or even higher than home ?] has put everyone off. Or maybe I’m the only idiot out in these temps and places come alive after dark……

Either way: I shall be getting out early for my daily walk in the cool-er temps going forward. And sitting in the shade / by the pool thereafter. *Apart from a few interesting trips we have booked…..

Several miles around Cromer yesterday while I was at work..

Sadly, my usual early morning ice-cream vebdor was closed but I did find a beachfront place about to open so a Mango Sorbet saved the day!

It's nice to get a few miles walked after a 3 hour drive each way šŸ‘
