I feel sorry for this guy. A Scottish GP who puts out sensible videos with common sense health advice and tips. He has so few subscribers compared to some of the influencers on there with their wacky advice so if anyone feels like giving his videos a like and subscribe please do so.

I am not on commission.

What guy would that be?

I don't know if they count as influences but some of the cycle touring ones are great for inspiration. Debs and Tom in particular and a guy called Macahon but can't remember his first name.

It's always good to get a non algorithmic recommendation; I'll give it a look. His titles aren't nearly inflammatory enough to generate traction.

I was already on the healthier lifestyle route given im now soley responsible for my two grandchildren and owe them the best I can give...for as long as I can give it.
Since arthritis stopped serious cycling I have put on a belly particually and this kind of channel/ influencer crops up a lot on my FB feeds now and theres an awful lot to be gained from them.
Eating less often, eating better and fasting to allow your body to use up all the glucose its taking from your daily intake then switching to body fat as a food source.
I've been working at it for a couple weeks now and if you eat properly (higher protein, no snacking at all, no food after 7pm until 12.00, 13.00 hrs)
Theres a.lot to be got from these channels, there more you watch them,, the more you realise.modern lifestyle and food particually is having a massive impact on peoples lives and health

Planning to get a rowing machine on my return to Thailand. Never used one before, but hear they give a good all-round workout.
Mrs Crank not a keen cyclist, but we can both use the machine and get some benefit from it hopefully.

I got a Concept 2 around 3 years ago, but after the initial excitement the novelty wore off quickly so managed to sell it on Gumtree about 18 months ago.

I’m really not good at exercising indoors and much prefer getting out in the fresh air, even if it’s just walking.

I had a few goes on a Concept some years ago and decided if I ever had to pack in cycling that would be my Plan B. I've got an addictive streak and I think I could settle for rowing 👍

Subscribed, even though I'm already in the know of those topics.
I think he needs to have more videos (about 30 when I looked) for the algorithms to show them to more people in their feed.
Also, as you said, the videos are very sensible, his competition has charts, statistics and bigger screen presence.
I'm sure eventually his time will come.

Out of interest i just weighed myself...a few weeks ago I was 83 kg and its now 77kg.

Given i was a lifetime 10.5 stone (whats that, around 70kg ?) while cycling, just goes to show what happens when you stop exercising but carry on eating as normal.

I've lost around 7kg in less than 4 weeks simply by not eating after 8pm at the very latest, then not eating again until midday, occasionally 1pm.
No snacks, virtually given up bread, very little processed food, and eating plenty of protein.

The point, a lot of guidance and advice from these YT influencers, channels whatever you prefer. They're very useful sources of information, makes you realise even the British food manufacturing system is headed down the dreaded American model.

I've not even been religious about it, we had a couple beers and an Indian the other night, I occasionally mess up and top up if I get the fuelling wrong...but my podge feels.better, I feel better simply knowing im not overloading myself with food.
