Shame I couldn’t stick with it longer. I thought I was going ok. The gap didn’t seem that big but I just never recovered the ground once I’d dropped a few meters. Grats whippet!

Anyone else feel sluggish off the start? Don’t know if it was my connection or I was just slow but it felt like me and Bridgy were left standing and had to put some effort in to catch the group.

Then I’m pretty sure I didn’t do myself any favours spending so much time at the front early on. I need to work on the race craft.

Well done all!
I enjoyed watching that race :okay: Massive efforts being put in by all.

Not sluggish for me. I had loft windows open and it started to our with rain seconds before the start! Lent over and managed to push one closed while soft pedalling and then faced with choice of stopping to do the other just carried on:biggrin:
Stopped raining after a couple of mins. Loft is a bit wet
After that I just tried to chase you guys down. Caught Andy and we worked together a while but decided to chase Norry on the volcano- he stayed away but caught him on the flat. We wanted to get Milzy but his 30s couldn’t be whittled down and tbh I think Martin and I were boxing and coxing for the sprint which I just managed to hold onto. Agree with other comments- it’s a great course! Tough though. Well done everyone.

Enjoyed that although it was pretty hard. I lost the pack after a few miles and had to work really hard to catch back up - and that left me a bit flat for the rest of the race I think. Fair play to @bobinski for reeling me in and hanging on in the sprint. Would have been a good photo finish

It was all looking fine at 11 miles ........ then once on the Volcano KOM it was on my own until Bob caught me.

Me too - what a great course that is! Well done for beating me on the line - I went a bit too early!!
That was tight race. Actually i thought that you win, i was watching you and Lee and was almost certainly that you cross the finish line first but Lee probably had some pacing at the end. I was comparing Lee's and your's heart rate and i was sure that Lee will beat you more clearly what he actually did because his heart rate was about 20 beats lower than yours, but not tell the whole truth. Very entertaining to watch .

I guess worst ways we can just do in the road standings rather than times.

It was a nice moment when there was a few of us together after a few miles, then trying to guess who was going to drop off first! Bit like an eviction in the big brother house as people started slipping away.

Volcano climb will be 8 or 9 mins, so a little 'punch'. Only a few sections that are decent % gradients, even some flatish bits. Quite a lot at about 3% if memory serves me well. It's one I quite like as I can push on up
It’s a shame you wasn’t there, spoilt the ride a bit. I wasn’t feeling the climb after overtime.

Currently very confused why we aren't all showing on the same segment for the full out and back again route on Strava.....
Noticed that too. Tommys segment is little bit shorter and name of segment is different, actually that segment is the original so Tommy won the race
