Well done for working it out Bridgy. And thanks again for organising it all mate.

I think we can just call this stuff teething problems. It’s good that it’s sortable worse case scenario by the look of it.

My personal preference is to persevere with the meet ups rather than joining other races. Of course we can do both. But I like the fact that it is ours and we’re building it up. And also get to choose our own courses.

Just regurgitate(felt like that yesterday) or is reiterate^_^, many thanks Paul :okay:

Couldn't agree more. Can't beat racing your mates like last night! Tactics really come into it when you know your opponents strengths and weaknesses

Sounds like I missed a good one last night :okay:. Not felt tip-top this week so decided to do some easy rw miles later today rather than a full-on effort yesterday.

@Whorty - how do you watch the events? Do you have to 'join' the event first and then find the zwifters using the companion app?

ta Paul for sorting.
Whats the new segment called-cant see anything on strava on my phone.
It's called "Out and Back meet-up segment", but it takes an age for Strava to sync all previous rides to it so you shouls see it later. Currently I'm still KOM as there's only 21 peoplewhose rides have synced to teh new segment so far - all rides done today.

Still a KOM's a KOM so I'll bask in my temporary KOM glory for a bit longer...:cuppa:

The way i watch them i open Zwift and select just watch mode. Then i just try to find them where on earth they are, scrolling rider by rider to further when target is finally in sight. I do that way because i don't want no-one to know that i watch them . Easier way is clearly to join them.

I log on to Zwift like I would if I was planning to ride. At the start screen (where you choose the world to ride in) it shows you your friends and asks if you want to ride with them. I select (for e.g.) Andy and hit Ride. You go into Zwift as normal and your avatar freewheels behind your friend for a short period. Quickly click onto your friend on the right hand box and you then see the race from their view. You can then switch between other riders the same way. Be careful though, as your avatar has now gone stationary if you click 'Back to me' you will go back to you avatar and miss the race.

Generally Strava does not backdate new Virtual Ride segments - they only check times against them for rides that happened after the segment was created (plus the original ride the segment was created from). Occasionally you'll find an old ride in the results list, like a random one from many months ago, but these are the exception, not the rule.

I did ask Strava Support about this once and they said it was by design - whenever a new segment was created for a Zwift course, especially one that had been around a while, it just was grinding their servers to a halt by having to go back through all old rides checking for matches. It's not so much a problem with segments on IRL rides so they DO backdate those, because it's a lot rarer that you'll have segments with "15,000,000 attempts by 350,000 users" like you do for many Zwift segments (those stats taken from one short flat segment on Watopia I just looked up).

Ah, right - I didn't know that! So the new segment won't help then, that's annoying. Thanks for letting us know though

I've tried that but I find it more difficult

Could be worth someone deleting their ride from last night in Strava, then reloading it from the FIT file - this 'may' use the segment as it will see the new FIT file as a new ride. I'm hypothesizing and it sounds logical .... but we'll only know from testing I guess
