After doing Stage 5 ToC yesterday, I went riding with Wendy my good wife. Her target was to do her first ever 50 miler. The longest she had done before was 38 miles several years ago.

We did 51 miles at a not too shabby average of 14.2mph and I was very proud of her :smooch:

If you get a minute, can you pop on Strava and give her a Kudos, the activity link is https://www.strava.com/activities/2349673792

Her Garmin is not recording properly since I put Powertap wheels on and got the Garmin to connect with it. No idea what the problem is, so may have to de-link the power or get another Garmin (or sort out the problem  )

She nearly killed me when I said 100 was next
ToC next for her  700 metres of elevation too, so not a flat route either :okay:

I think suggesting not eating fibre if it is a regular part of your diet is bonkers. Fibre helps you do the thing she expects the star jumps to sort! I agree about coffeE. 2 double espressos every morning for me with a bit of milk and a slab of home made whole meal bread and honey or peanut butter or jam works wonders. Which reminds me I need to take my cafetière to Wales.
She was only saying the day or 2 before the race so that it doesn't sit in the gut and add extra weight, but I'm with you in that, changing your diet drastically just before a race/long ride could be a recipe for stomach problems!

@kipster has it right though, we can take the odd bit of advice from others but ultimately we know our own bodies and have to just do what is right for us. I've learnt that the odd gel is fine, sweets really help, I can get through long rides without much food. Whereas someone like Andy can't do gels, so what's right for one is wrong for someone else. All trial and error. Just have to ensure the water is topped up (I got myself 2 of the 950ml bottles @Norry1 linked to, they're just the job - highly recommend!)

Another 6kgs?? There's not going to be anything left of you man!!
I was 76kg dead today. BMI still has me as overweight  11 stone was always my ideal fighting weight when I was younger (by fighting, I mean rugby and football. I also used to do some body building and I was ripped at that weight) so would be nice to get there again. Not too light and skinny so hopefully can keep my FTP at 250 ish too.
