I was watching general positioning, and Michael played a clever hand, holding back sat at the back. Carl was bouncing all over the place, as was Bob. :okay:
I was concerned of breaks .... I thought Paul and Lee might try to go, and if they went together would be hard to bring back so I was trying to stay near at least one them. I struggle to trust the blob will catch a breakaway ... same in normal races ... so I'm always chasing anything down just in case

Just watched the video ... @mjd1988 is the master at race craft :notworthy: And whilst you can't see the finish line on the video, looks to be close to a bike length victory to Michael.

What was also strange was when Tony had the camera on Michael, even though he's in the bunch the time gap shows as 1 second to everyone else. I'd be fine taking 1 second off Michael's time for that stage and handing the deserved victory to him :okay:

Anyone know an obvious solution to calf cramps when riding? Such as saddle up or down, cleats forward or back? Ta v muchly šŸ‘

If you google it as I did a year or so back I think you’ll find there’s a bit of mystery around it. You can do things on a trial and error basis though. Ensure you’re drinking enough fluids before a ride. I will try and neck a bottle of water with electrolyte tab while I warm up. Giving yourself enough time to warm up. Stretching, massage your calves. Stuff like that has worked for me.

Day taking it easy, walk with dogs. Score recovery only reached 55 out of 100 after nights sleep. Only started to get proper rest after 4am

Last week my HR was racing all night. Unbeknown, wife was getting me one of those sporty watches.

Sat here its saying, you are well and truly knackered tonight. Stress levels popping up repeatedly. HR is coming down now into the 60s . My resting HR is 40bpm these days.

My physical energy bank has been smashed from tonights event.

Interested to see if I fully recover after a good night's sleep

Andy, I recent had to wear a medical HRM for 24h. My resting HR fell to 34. I can’t use it as an excuse. Recovery time after a training ride during the 24h where I hit 166bpm , so below my peak 180ish, was pretty quick .I find it all fascinating.

I had the same. It seemed to me if the saddle was even a smidge too high my calves cramped. So was a bit if trial and error just dropping it bit by bit until its now at what feels depot on.

Same with handle bars. Were far too low, killed shoulders, so raised them to a nice comfy height.

Congratulations @Whorty - king of the sprints!

Perhaps next time enter an organised race, Splitters wait 3mins after the start to roll out? Guess that means timing is all on Zwiftpower? Might end up with a straggler or two from the main field but shouldn’t matter?
Not a bad idea ... we know 'when' we want to race, we can just look at the options around that time every Wednesday and choose one of the races I guess? We'd have to all enter A cat pen though to ensure we can see each other, and also ensure no one gets DQ'd and so we all show in the results (we'd also all need to wear an HRM to avoid getting DQ'q too)

I'll maybe drop it a bit then and adjust the saddle. I might change the saddle anyway, it's a funny shape.

Its quite enlightening this hidden physiological stuff. Even though I feel Ok, my metrics are saying I need to rest. This watch measures 'heart rate variability' ,heart rate, breathing rate and I think body temperature too. It combines these to assess your energy resources.

I knew I would probably need a rest, but to see it in graphical form is as you say fascinating :okay:

Really annoyed with myself last night, stupidly decided to pair HRM and forgot it stops your avatar.

Put in a big effort to get back to the group and settled back in, but then just completely missed a surge.

Tried to rejoin and nearly made it but there was another surge when I was a second off the back. Then I hemorrhaged time.

Expected my fitness to come back with the racing but it's just not there yet!
