And now for something completely different:

Is anyone planning to tick off any of the long-ish route badges between Christmas and New Year? I mean your Pretzels, Mega Pretzels, Uber Pretzels, possibly 25 laps of Volcano Circiut?

I might eat a lot of pretzels

I might try full PRL as it was in my sights for this year, but not sure yet. Still have 4 horsemen and Uber Pretzel to do too, but the PRL also gets me the 100 mile jersey/badge that I'm still lacking.

25 laps of volcano is an easy enough one as it's flat and usually lots of other riders about so some decent drafting available. Gets you the 100km jersey too.

Yeah, but in terms of the overall times for the series GC, I know what your target is - you could very easily gain two places in the standings with a semi-decent time... (as one of the people who you'd overtake, I'm quite happy if you chose to stay on the slowest +10% time!)

I'm targeting a maximum of 45:48 (If I've done my secret maths right)

I'm 1:10 behind @IrishAl but not sure if he's doing or not before the weekend so I can't really worry about trying to get that back.

Not a chance I can do an imperial century - out of reach for now.

And yeah, was thinking about the Volcano for the metric century. I've noticed it occasionally come up as an event, effectively a ~2W/kg group ride and thought that would be good. 100k badge as well as the 25 laps badge at one go.

I'm not free on Saturday afternoons but if you are, this series of badge hunts (HUGE fields, double drafting) would be a really good way of getting some of the long route badges.

The problem with Pretzel and Mega Pretzel is that, although they're sort of different, they're still roads that you've ridden before, and stringing them together in a particular order doesn't really make it very special. I very rarely do free-rides in Zwift because I've seen all the scenery and I don't get a buzz out of sightseeing. I've chalked up nearly all of the route badges I've got by racing or doing workouts.

I did the 25x Volcano a few months ago. Very boring.

I have not bothered route chasing at all. In fact I've done nothing but race lately, had been doing a steady group ride for a long time earlier in the year though will probably need to up the zone 2 stuff at some point

I did it as one of the group rides ... for some reason I late joined, and asked if I could have an attempt at un-lapping myself, as I was 3 laps down on the main field ... They let me ... hang out there and suffer for 15 laps :cursing: still I did make one lap up on them, those last three laps without the group were tough though.

Might Jump on and try and tick off one of the few long courses I've not done yet though ... 4 horsemen rings a bell ..

From tomorrow morning I’m going to start riding at around 7am. I can be flexible most mornings give or take but tomorrow I have too much to do so 7am or earlier. If anyone wants to join me you’re more than welcome. I’ll just be spinning and talking shite.

Is this just a weekend thing Tommy or weekdays as well? I don’t think I could drag myself out of bed on a weekend but I could be tempted to get in a weekday early start.

I messed up my own meet up attempt at the TT on Wednesday - I was late for it 😂 so I haven’t posted a time yet. If anyone was interested in a morning session either tomorrow or Sunday (not too early and not too late) then I could set up a meet up. Some company would be good motivatio.

I’m going to try to ride every day leading up to Christmas bud. I can ride a bit later on Sunday if it suits you better. Just tomorrow I have to get going early. Having said that I’m getting my booster tomorrow so that might effect sunday. And then next week I’m relatively flexible.

Excuses for your own meet ups ! Now that’s a new one - or is it Bob ?
