Race report from Team CCC after tonight's TTT please?

From my perspective,

My event started with me missing the start by a few seconds because I couldn't hear the word go over my music and fan. I had to go 6-700W to catch up.

I surprisingly held the lead on a couple of climbs first time around, but as the first lap finished I felt on my limit entering the second lap. I was dropped but Al messaged for me to keep going, they had eased up to get me back on.

Oddly KOM reverse and East Main St I felt better and I went faster up it on the 2nd lap

Then it was a case of trying to put in digs on the front which we all did. Jeff for me played an excellent tactic of waiting to help the pace remain high for the run for the finish. Steve said we had dropped to 7th late on, but a strong team effort say us come back to 5th overall.

I edge up my FTP as did J.offey

Well done both teams. 5th with 4 starters is some performance, can't quite get over that.

@Whorty did you survive?

I’m slightly biased. I have the exact same two power meters 🙂

I really like them both for what it’s worth. But for me my left / right balance is the same on both (52/48 pretty much the whole time). I don’t know why yours are inaccurate they shouldn’t be maybe you want to send them an email?

Value for money wise I’m not sure juhal to be honest. When I bought mine they were the best available really. The gold standard I guess. Power meters were more pricey in general. And peddle based pm’s like Garmin were much less reliable. But now the pedal versions like assioma and now speedplay seem a lot more reliable. And you can get the assioma spindles for around £400 so maybe it’s hard to look past that.

Yeah if my foot wises up I might reward myself with the duo Shi spindles as I've already got compatible pedals

I said it in the chat group already. I think that’s the best ttt I can think of result wise. Including ones we’ve won. Four guys from the start. One had never ridden in the team, never done a ttt, never ridden in formation, not even sure how many races he’s done to be honest, drafted in last minute! Bram was under the weather and showed it during the race. I’m still getting the effects of covid to a degree. I guess all this stuff is obviously relative to the strength of the field… but there was something very consistent and satisfying about the way we road the course. 4 beating a lot of teams who had 6.

It’s a shame the way the league has petered out isn’t it. Too much bad luck to contend with in the end.

Shall we see if we can get him to fall for the “ you must shave your legs” gag ?
No offence mr immac 😁

This may come under the TMI tag...... but

My good lady is a waxer by profession and it is getting close to me getting my pre-race season waist-down wax - no photos

Legs

usually riding on Zwift...
I had my legs waxed twice... once professionally, once by my then-gf (now Mrs Legs). I think there must have been a forgetting-how-painful-it-was thing going on (like they say about childbirth), because, thinking back, I can't imagine what possessed me to have it done the second time!
