Since we started the series with powerups, I think we should keep the powerups. Yes they're silly, I agree. Yes they're potentially unfair, but this is cartoon bike racing and it's a video game.

Even real bike racing has a random element. You can get a puncture/mechanical or different wind/traffic conditions - even spectators doing stupid things.

In a future series, perhaps it could be different, but would be better to specify it up-front.

You guys certainly had me working hard last night:

Best 5s, 60s, and 5m power of the year (season). Only 2W away from best 20m power.

Hoping to keep the seasons bests coming through the series! 🙂

Good work. I got new power curve PRs between 37:30 and 51:30. I put out more power overall than when we did the same course on stage 7 TdZ but 2 minutes slower. Must be down to the double-draft and fewer people.

Bridgy has said he doesn’t think you can change it in the settings anyways. But for what it’s worth I think you either like them or you don’t. Or maybe somewhere in the middle! But I think comparing them to anything that happens in the real world probably isn’t the winning argument.

that doesn't slow you down as shown last night ! I personally think this broken toe was done in an attempt to snap it off to lose weight

I challenge anyone to try racing with a broken toe before before saying it doesn’t slow you down!

Codeine is my new best friend though.

To be fair to you and Paul you’re both in better form than me so I honestly couldn’t say the result would have been much different.

Well I like them when they help me and I don't when they help other people.
At the end of the day it's the same for everyone - except when it isn't

Not to not pick but it isn’t really the same for everyone. It Favours the weaker rider. Don’t get me wrong. It doesn’t really get my goat. It’s just well, a bit cack in my opinion.

Did you miss the bit where I said "except when it isn't"?

That’s pretty much my point andy. I’m kind of in the ‘may the best man win’ camp. Rather than the, ‘may the man who gets lucky with power ups win’ camp. I still find it gimmicky after all this time.

But I get some people like it the other way too.
I See them as just a tactic tool. A bit like using the lag in power to surprise another rider. I know there is a random element to the award. It made me work much harder when Alex,John deployed theirs.

I got 2x 10XP, then I got a magic hat which I kept all the way to the end, because I didn't trust my sprint and I was pretty sure I'd be arriving at the finish with the indestructible @straas.
I got a couple of power ups (hat and van) early on, then only the 10xp for rest of race. As it's random it can be annoying, but it is what it is so I'm a bit meh about it
