I've found TR very beneficial in building power/strength but I was lacking endurance. So I have been doing longer rides recently. I don't know whether it's been a combination of TR and endurance, but I'm currently having a little purple patch of form. I will try mix TR a short race/segment Kom and a long ride per week leading up to me going to Tenerife in March

Yeah it’s tough. Defo agree you want it to be tough. But I’m finding it a little boring too Andy. I’m going to persevere s little longer but in January I might replace it with more racing and maybe an interval session once a week or something.
When im on TR and zwift, if i feel i can push harder to try and get a pb on zwift i turn up the intensity on TR it helps enormously with motivation and especially when doing a FTP test, but i understand we're not all the same and like different things.

For france I'll be using TrainerRoad and bigringvr, i am finding zwift a little dull at the moment so hoping i can find my mojo to get some long rides in.

But a word of caution even though I don’t think you race IRL, we have had club members race on Zwift through the winter, they then do really well in the early season races but get to about May and are burnt out, their performance drops right off, these are really strong riders (CAT 1 and CAT 2), those that do more structured training than racing tend to perform better overall in the season. This is purely anectodal bases on two racers out of four who used Zwift extensively.

No I think you’re right Kip, it sounds like they’re over doing it. But my ‘problem’, is sort of the opposite of this.... I don’t race, I just need to maintain good cardio fitness all year.

Don't you listen to music when on TR?
Couldn't ride on the turbo with out it

I do listen to music Dean. I just prefer music to trainerroad with zwift combined. For me I just get much more motivation racing than traineroad. Trainerroads ddineitlry excellent for controlled workouts. But long term it would send me a little mental!

I think this is the thing. We all try and find routines that suit us personally and our goals.

Hi Guys
Been trying to get my Elite Direto up and running on a older 9 speed racer.
Bought a new rear cassette and fitted with two spacers and a new chain ( that’s another story) as it sounded a bit rough.
I then tried it on Zwift and the resistance was all over the place and this was all down to the pairing.
Zwift automatically pairs power and controllable together which messed it up so unpairing the controllable sorted it out and it now feels good.
I’ll give it a good workout over the holidays and hopefully give it a thumbs up.
