Alan actually put in a huge attack to bridge to the front 4 at the start, very impressive silly.
I've marked up your race report there @mjd1988 😀. Berty and four toes were putting in some massive digs there in the front group - I thought it would settle down but errr no.

That was a tough slog in the group so I don't blame you for pulling the plug @steverob, I've done the same when I was off the pace last year.

Some great performances all around. Was more entertaining than the average Zwift race with attacks sticking for a change and taking some work to get back. Impressive first race R.ich 👏 and I never stood a chance against MJD in the sprint for the line once you got back and I was happy to share the work to stay out in front.

Dropped within the first mile despite giving it my all. Didn’t fancy doing another one hour plus solo time trial, so I started watching other riders (was recording footage anyway) and just did a Zone 2/3 ride blind for the next 35 minutes.

Did consider finishing the race, but thought that would be unfair on others who couldn’t take part today - being cursed with my non-effort time plus a further two minutes penalty.

I’ll probably skip the remaining stages as it’s not enjoyable being the weakest rider in the field by such a massive margin.
I saw your avatar on the road, wondered what had happened.

That was actually a longer, harder ride than I anticipated. Would not have been nice doing that solo.

That was a tough little loop. I tried a few digs up the hill into the village but couldn’t make them stick once hitting the gravel. Cheers guys.

Off day for me today ... probably didn't help I hadn't ridden since last Tuesday. Bridging across to Lee, Tommy and Micheal at the start kicked off an asthma attack that just buggered up the lungs for rest of ride. Even sitting up and waiting for next group and puffing on my bluey didn't help too much. But, it is what it is.

Great race guys ... some excellent rides tonight all round

No excuses today - messed up everything there was to mess up and quite frankly annoyed with myself. Didn't warm up properly despite having the time, unnecessarily tried bridging to Alan and Carl when they were at the front group which paired with the intense start left me spent for the first climb. Barely made it up that dirt hill with the group and was looking for some rest - everything was going good until I lost the wheel on the supertuck section and had to sprint yet again. Was spent. Again. Managed maybe 2 minutes up the hill on lap 2 and realised that I won't be making it to the top with the group. Poor preparation, very poor racecraft. I'm too competitive for my own good - need to take it cool in races. Painful lesson today - but still a lesson :okay:

That said, very much enjoyed the event and looking forward to next Tuesday. Thanks for organising @bridgy - even if you couldn't join us. Congrats to all participants. @berty bassett just about taking it I see, congrats for keeping him on his toes @<Tommy> ;)

Well done everyone. Some great attacking moves tonight. That race seemed to have everything. Hard pushes up the climb then comically slow on the downhill and flat on the first lap. I refused an aero tuck at one point because I was getting cold! Once the group thinned slightly the dynamic changes though and I ended up getting season best five minute and sixty minute numbers so pleased with that.

Thanks @bridgy for selecting the course. It’s a good racing circuit. Where were you this evening, though?!

@IrishAl - some great kamikaze moves this evening. Very fitting for the coirse! I had dejavu watching you bridge to front group at the start, and your move to get away from our group towards the end was superb. Good job bridging solo @mjd1988 !

@Whorty - nice work on the climbs especially. Was great to ride with you this evening.

@Peter Salt and @alex_cycles - my target was to get a gap on the two of you in GC tonight. Hope you don’t mind my messaging and work to make that happen. It’s all in good humour. Not going to lie - Peter was number one target after losing to him last week!

Well done to @berty bassett and @<Tommy> four toes. Head and shoulders above the rest again 👍

Great riding with @Girafitti too - think you just ran out of steam at the end, but I couldn’t quite catch Rich so we came back together for the run in which I enjoyed.

Don't forget though, those mistakes will make you stronger. Trying to bridge whilst burned a lot of matches in that race, will make you stronger for the next race, so don't stop doing it ... eventually you'll make that bridge. I was the same, but kept trying and trying and now I'm a stronger rider for it.

I thought you had a great ride today. It was hard in our group, very little rest with lots of attacks. You was riding with all B riders (I know Nick is C at the moment, but when fit he's a good B rider, stronger than me, and a great climber). So don't knock yourself - that was a strong ride :okay:

I think that was always on the cards with that course. A bit too long and flat for my "strengths" (if you can call them that?). There's something about the Makuri dirt sections that I really don't seem to get on with. Was glad to finish all the Makuri routes a couple of weeks ago - and here we are again

Good ride. :okay:

Sorry to hear that Steve but I understand, that was long ride!

Well done everyone. Not sure if anyone escaped but didn't see anyone within a few mins of us so I assume we were the front group:okay:

Well done Tommy and Lee, a class apart.

Was a fun second group (way) behind. Spent the whole race waiting for someone to declare a gravel bike and put in a big attack. As it happened Rich and Alan put in two big attacks on the hill on the last two laps. I think my sprint has gotten a bit better with my new shoes (probably just in my head).

Alan actually put in a huge attack to bridge to the front 4 at the start, very impressive.

Was fun having a bit of a tactical battle, glad we didn't just ride for a bunch sprint in the end.

Did anyone go with a bike choice that paid off?

I did my usual lack of research… and in my head I was thinking of a different, steeper climb. Alan put in a monster effort I to get back to us, and when I realised it wasn’t super steep I just thought I better try and turn the screw a bit and I know lee will do the same if I kick on. I’ve got to be honest, dropping the feather and then watching lee drop one right afterward had me in stitches . I can only imagine how far your heart sank at that point Michael 😁. Brutal…

Then lee was really super strong on the flat taking big turns. I was really surprised the gap we got, maybe a little cat and mouse in the group behind, rather than try chasing us down?

Cheers for the nickname Alan. Can’t see that one sticking at all… (🙏🙏).

The pain in my foot is quite tough to block out to be honest but what can you do! Hopefully this week is better than last because I can walk a little easier now.

4 toe tommy…

Well done everyone 👍
