This is great. i assume all you hip young things are down with the reddit massive etc

Very topical after last week's ZRL. I've seen so many different versions of that video and they all crack me up. If you're into software "Hitler uses Git" is brilliant as well.

Back to the bike changes, I'm currently looking into whether or not it's worth switching for the "Chasing the Sun" Temple KoM section. I'm expecting it probably isn't worth it on a 10 minute gravel climb as it'll be hard to make up the time of 2 bike switches, but am going to do some tests.

From previous races that have done that climb on Makuri, in Cat A and the front of B it’s not worth it (you’ll lose more time than you gain), the rest of B and the front of C it’s 50/50 UNLESS you’re going for the fastest time segment points (in which case you should) and in mid C and below it’s definitely worth doing.

As a heavy, low C rider, I’m well over a minute quicker up that climb on a gravel bike compared to the Tron at the same power.

Note that if you do change, you should switch back at the top as soon as you go through the banner and not wait until you hit the tarmac on the descent. The tarmac resumes while you are still going really fast and you’ll lose way more time slowing back to zero.

At more or less cat limit this climb is ~8 min. on an all-rounder road bike or the Tron. Don't think you can make up the time lost on bike swaps on such a snappy segment. Also, even if it is faster in an isolated case (which I doubt at the pointy end of C) it won't be in a race situation. When you stop to make the swap you loose the blob and that's worth a lot of seconds.

Now - if you're a lower tier cat C, you blew up, or just trying to get the FTS on the KOM - that's a different story - then it might be worth doing.

Actually, looking back on the strava segment data I can see that I was 30s faster on MTB on 3rd March for almost the same power as today's Canyon Aeroad effort. That's not enough to offset two bike swaps, so no further testing required. :okay: In race conditions I would hope to be pushing more like 210W

Anyone know who set up the ZP cc page, and if it can be moderated?

@kipster maybe?
Just checked and it wasn't me .... or at least I can't edit anything on the team.

I have a feeling with ZP teams anyone can join and no 'request' is needed. Not very controlled. But could be wrong (it has been known :tongue: )
