What’s stopping you dropping more weight Andy? Decided you’re happy where you’re at or you’ve found your ‘natrural’ weight? if that makes sense. Either way... on flattish TT’s if you can get a good postion worked out on the bike, you should be a real force to be reckoned with! Have you got the TT rig set up yet mate?

Weight is probably around natural to a little under. 91/92kg is sustainable without too many sweeties

I have done the base settings which allow me to be comfortable, not crick my neck (very important to me). I even got an expensive TT helmet-very cheap being ex demo. I need to set the bike back on the turbo and try and do 20 min interval to gauge power and comfort properly. The early signs were positive, power was very easy to make with having hips much further forward and open, so much so I need to keep a check on them as I was producing 30w more than FTP, breathing needs to be checked. I would blow up outside, I don't have a pm on this bike. I will probably sell my Ultegra Stages and get the FSA one for the bike. I haven't sorted gearing, but found I can get a carbon chain ring made relatively cheaply, anything upto 60T

Sounds very cool mate. And you can even use your fan as a make shift wind tunnel too! ^_^

I’d put stiffness and durability ahead of weight regarding the carbon chainring. Some chainrings are much stiffer than others, so to speak... But that’s trial and error I guess.

Have you got any events lined up?

I have our club 8 TT this week if the weather stays good. It will be a good try out test.

The Chain ring is for bringing the chain line back in check. The current setup has 50*11 biggest gear, but chain is off quite a bit. By running a 56T (4 bolt) rare in aluminium I can select 56*13/14 for same ratio and dead straight chain. First though before I do any of that is to have a few confidence and comfort rides to assess everything.

Or a disaster and new TT bike forsale:laugh:

sounds like you have done your homework  hope it all goes well for you  let us know how you get on
will it be 10mile or more ?
always been interested what sort of time i could achieve on a flat windless course , the only times i have tried were once around here on a hilly route and i had a couple of goes out kingscliff way in less than ideal conditions , but these were just ride to the event , leave toolkit at the line and go for it !

Do you have a map of the route?
If it's flat and you can get those watts into the TT bike, I'm sure you will go faster that you ever did before.

My first test is in about two weeks. Still not feeling a 100% and the flu has left a scary fitness curve in Golden Cheetah :surrender:
Looks like spring is finally coming here so will try to use commuting througout April to regain former fitness and hopefully build on a bit more in May for the Cambridgeshire TT.

TT is really odd for so many different riders and shapes. Myself, Im built like a barn door and struggle to get a small front area, so despite my extra power cant do good times. Then we have little guys who cut through the air in a small tuck and get some good times. Our best TT chap is a cut above the rest of our club apart from one other rider, He is tall 6'2/3" weighs 68kg and just turned 40yrs. He cuts through the air with his slim build, has a great position, decent power around 300W from Zwift rides. He comfortably averages 28/29mph(bumpy course) over 10 but also can do 30 mph average on a flat course over 25 miles. You should have go Lee, get some cheap TT clip on bars £25 and try. Like I say its not about raw power but CD/a (frontal area)

https://www.strava.com/activities/921148314/analysis From memory it was a windy old day. I'm quite nervous having spent a small fortune on a bike/ helmet, to find I'm just as bad. I know I've had decent winter, power numbers up, weight down, had a good Tenerife week(felt strong) Still doesn't stop me slightly worrying it could all fall flat:eek:

Is that over more than one test? Maybe just having a bad day? Or you were having a very good day earlier in this year ^_^

^_^

Nahh, I can see in training peaks it began to fall feb and then into March just because of less time on the bike as I rested knee and that flare up of tendonitis. Iegs should get back to form quickly if I can get the breathing sorted- that’s hardest. Old age mate

I’d say it slightly differently Andy. There’s a guy who trains around Regent’s Park who’s nickname is ‘rhino’. Gives you some idea of his shape! He’s a big boy... but he competes in national TT’s and does pretty well. So I suppose I’d say, what you lack in aero you have to compensate for in power. Or vice versa. Obviously the most successful guys have a excellent balance of both. The bloke in your club isn’t called Brad is he?!

Did you get a TT suit? It will give you at least 1 kph.

No I havent got one yet. First out will be in my new Tenerife top, its like a sausage skin. I know its the clean lines and seams which make the difference. If I do OK, I'll invest in bright orange one! Bridgy?

Ok, just telling you - a TT suit is about £150. That is a fairly cheap investment for such a massive effect.
