i have heard shaving legs reduces some drag - and helps in other drag :okay: but may just be a southern thing
No it's true. It was proven recently in a wind tunnel test. Purely accidental as the guys testing had some wind tunnel time left after their original tests and decided to check it just for fun. Their jaws dropped as the watt savings surpassed all the other "real" tests of the day. They then did a dedicated "leg hair" test with more riders and the results were the same.

I’d say it slightly differently Andy. There’s a guy who trains around Regent’s Park who’s nickname is ‘rhino’. Gives you some idea of his shape! He’s a big boy... but he competes in national TT’s and does pretty well. So I suppose I’d say, what you lack in aero you have to compensate for in power. Or vice versa. Obviously the most successful guys have a excellent balance of both. The bloke in your club isn’t called Brad is he?!

I might have more power than you lightweights but I dont have the power these monsters have. i was reading the TT forums, big guys (younger than me) are pushing 425-485W for a 10 mile flat course. To compare though some light riders 65Kg, were doing the same times with less than 300W. Big Power and low CDa are key.

that is all very well and good but working on building sites and shaving legs isn't a combination i want to try thank you very much !

I know I've had decent winter, power numbers up, weight down, had a good Tenerife week(felt strong) Still doesn't stop me slightly worrying it could all fall flat:eek:
I have a similar feeling. Knowing well that indoor season in a winter is going well and all numbers satisfied me, i can't get those numbers when i start my outdoor season. I have powermeter so i can compare bit of my performance with outdoor and indoor.
