I hope you’re using the words “free time” loosely! ^_^ Last night I took multitasking to another level...

I need to look at that zwift hack cheers. I might just try and do one of the Wattbike climbs tonight to get used to the unit. You’re welcome to come over and have a go. I’m not sure how my missus will respond when the two blokes go up to the spare room in spandex, but she’s pretty open minded ^_^

What excuse do you normally use with her?

Ha!

I’ve never found myself in that situation before .

I’ll have to defer to your greater knowledge. Is it in the book? :okay:

Another Zwift race last night - another annoying power/resistance problem at the start again with the Bkool.

Once again I was finding it too easy at the start. I was drafting in the group which obviously can make it easier but that didn't account for it all. I tried quickly turning off and on again at the plug which usually works but made no difference initially. Third time I did it though I counted to 10 before turning back on - and finally it worked and resistance was noticeably harder. Problem was, I allowed myself to get dropped by the leading pack in the process, and despite only being about 10 seconds back and absolutely burying myself it was now - ironically - just too hard to get back on!

I did get the satisfaction of winning the race to the line with the smaller group I later ended up in though!

Here's the strava data below - the HR chart most clearly tells the full story of: 1) 0-5 miles too easy; 2) 5.75 miles unplug and stop; 3) 5.75-7.5 miles massive effort to catch up; 4) higher/more normal effort and HR for remaining race.

Paul, i looked at your effort on strava yesterday and was confused because there wasn't usual number of gold trophies but your average watts were high at 316 Now i can see possibly why.
I joined an A Cat race last night using my phone with only 2 minutes to spare and no warm up. Big mistake. They shot off and i tried to stay with them but i couldn't see who was who because of my tired old eyes:rolleyes:. I was in 20th and slowly over 3km made it to 14th before my cold screaming legs told me to stop. I was only going to race the first 20min, to get experience of an explosive start and hanging on under my belt as a bit of practice so not as frustrating as it might have been. You A cat racers are darned fast!

as an aside, i had issues logging in via pc last night and the other day. On both occasions logged in at same time using my phone with no issues at all. I may look at an Apple TV as an alternative. Not too spendy and if as reliable as a phone then makes sense.

I think the lack of gold trophies is as much to do with the fact I've now probably done most of the segments a couple of times! I'm sure it didn't used to do this but I think Strava now gives you a gold "PR" trophy when you complete a segment for the very first time!

Dean using this method does the resistance change with the gradient in zwift?
No as im in erg mode when im on TrainerRoad but zwift can tell how many watts im making so i could be doing 250 watts going either up hill or down but the resistance stays the same.
It could be a get around for the time being untill you've figured out how to get zwift working properly

I see what you’re saying Dean. If I was training on TrainerRoad but wanted the distraction of zwift that would work well. But I’m thinking, training on zwift, but using another app (Wattbike) for telling me my gear ratio. It’s not the end of the world. Hopefully when I’m more used to both the atom and zwift I’ll get a better feel for it without needing to know what gear I’m in.

I never know what gear I'm in! I can look down to see if I'm in large or small on the front, but after that it's all a mystery to me :shy: I just move up or down depending how the gradient feels :B)
