I am not looking for an argument either Carl. I would draw the distinction between someone who is at their limit, even in the draft, and someone who isn’t. That will depend on the speed of the group and effect of draft. HR, as Andy suggests, informs that understanding. Elsewhere people are talking about how brutal the first lap in particular was, even when in the relative safety of the draft because they were on the limit. If pb’s are obtained in these circumstances that’s hardly easy! Clearly you weren’t on your limit so kudos!

With regards drafting in zwift. Does the avatar stay sat up while drafting, or just sit up momentarily when you’re entering the draft? I seem to sit up when I’m a couple of meters back but when I’m right on someone’s wheel I seem to tuck in again. Is that right?
Yes it stays sat up, sometimes your avatar will be pushed to the side, just ever so slightly ease off and it will find a gap to drop back in. You will of noticed the words "close the gap", you're still getting draft but not as effectively until on the back wheel. Stay several riders behind the front and draft is at the maximum
Tip-keep avatar sat up, you're drafting.

For me, on the flatter sections, it felt fairly easy to cruise at speeds I would normally need to push hard to reach and couldn't hold for very long. May differ for others, but for me it felt not too hard. I bridged across groups a couple of times and that felt so much harder, losing the draft and pushing on my own. Once back in the pack I could drop 100 watts and still be going the same kind of speed.
This would tell me, you should move upto B cat for Zwift, OR fit a power meter to your bike. You could then use Bkool with the pro and add in the PM when on Zwift:okay:

Ok, who is up for a Kiss 100 before Xmas? Bkool pro users can do a bridgy and restart their turbo once in Zwift.
We can ride as a team. Drafting encouraged.

Miles or Kilo?

Just a side note from yesterdays race the first mile, typifies not starting hard enough and missing the faster group. Wont happen again :boxing:

Lee can’t sprint for toffee:tongue: doesn’t weight enough^_^

I don’t think I’d sprint for toffee either. Fudge on the other hand! Mmmmm.... the crack cocaine of the confectionary world! :hungry:

I’m up for long rides over Christmas. I’ll probably try and do something similar to last year and do one long tempo ride a day.

Yes, i can't argue with that. Had B and C been the same distance yesterday i would have joined you guys in B, but i didn't think i'd last 3 laps so stayed in C. I think a power metre (which i can't justify the spend on) would definitely put put me in C. With the Pro, i could probably move up to B and not be last every race  I need a bit more Zwift racing, learning the craft, then I'll move up to B for a few races and see how i do. 26th yesterday out of 199 was quite good but i'm clearly not too strong for C's - racing B though may bring me on further

I'll stay with my current set up until the Pro dies then i'll see what's available at that point.

To make it a 'proper' Cyclechat race would we all have to ride in the same Cat .... which to avoid being called out as a cheat or sandbagger we'd have to ride in the highest category for the group (so if @bridgy is riding we'd all have to be in A, if no Bridgy then all in B etc).

Saying that, I've no idea what a Kiss 100 is ... is it a race or a long pootle? Could be good getting a few of us in a race at some stage anyway.

Q. How does restarting the Pro once in Zwift help? When the Pro/Zwift is playing up it's really obvious to spot and maybe then stop/starting the Pro will restart the connection but not sure it will do anything when it's not playing up. Maybe we can tempt @Jim Brown , @AAAC 76C , @BILL S etc across too on the free Zwift ride and have a good old get together race but with loads of other peeps along for the ride

Paul unplugs his trainer once in Zwift, it seems to reset it and then works ok most of the time. Sometimes he has had to reset mid race, because it was too easy for him.

Most of us are B cat, so to go with the majority. Like you say Carl, it doesn't really matter which category to race in except being able to draft other racers. Paul would find it a bit easier and you and me, especially if its hilly harder. Paul presently is finding his feet in cat A so could easily slot in to top end B race.

Bob I can only see a race on 21 Dec for Kiss-Australian pursuit handicap

I'm happy to jump up to B so we can all race together. I wouldn't see you guys after the start but at least we could compare results afterwards :okay: Just need to find a day/time that's suitable for all

I'll give it a go in B. Might be drafting quite a lot
