I cycle that way a fair bit, nice roads and countryside there - and only about 15 miles from Warwick where I live. I used to work in Wharf Lane and then Homer Road for quite a few years, so also have quite an attachment to Solihull.
So you're a British Gas boy .... that's why I was in Solihull too. Initially worked in London but relocated to 31 Homer back in 1994. Bought a flat in the centre; met HID as she did my mortgage  Never actually worked in Wharf Lane bit did have to go over there for visits - I remember the old hanger building .... monstrous, impersonal place. Those were the days  Drinking down the Mason's Arms, followed by Rosie O'briens nightclub xx(

Much preferred Knowle though; beers first in the Vaults followed by one of the best curries around in the Bilash :hungry:

We left Solihull in 1999 to work in London. Still have friends up there (and HID's Mom), but no plans to go back to live anymore.

Well done to those who've already had a crack at Stage 2. I need to fit it in either tomorrow or Thursday as I'm away to Spain on Friday :sun:

I've updated the league table with the early results. Let me know if you think I've missed anything or you have any complaints about your categorisation

@mjd1988 you was thinking your time was not your best, but looking at Martin and Andy's times I think you are doing yourself an injustice :okay: I'm hoping to have a go at 1 today, so I now have targets to aim for :boxing:

Yeah having seen other times maybe its not too bad. Although my average power was 2.9W/Kg so regardless of time I feel like I should have been putting out more power, especially as I was out of the draft for long periods and there was no real down time. It may be that the larger group at the startline made a big difference to my time, but feels like unfinished business, I'll see how the rest of times stack up as well - good luck today, if you get a good group early on and avoid the sticky draft later you could be sub 50 (no pressure )

If any FB users pop over to Zwift riders/racers you will see a lot of buzz about veloton. It looks amazing. Good Chris Pritchard vid on YouTube as well.

It looks great doesn't it - always a bit wary of the wahoo youtubers endorsements as they are clearly promoting Cvrcade even though it looks hilariously bad (although it may have gotten better since the beta), but the graphics and gameplay from that snippet looked fantastic. At the very least its good for zwift to have another competitor pushing them.

Initial target is sub 52 mins. Planning to join the pen early and blast from the off. Work hard up the incline from the waterfront and hope I'm in a fast group that can drag me along early. I expect @CXRAndy to be up the road already as he's faster out the blocks than me; this course will suit his raw power. 52 mins is a long time, but I'm hoping I can hold 250 watts average for this ride ... but this may be wishful thinking  I'll probably end up closer to 235

Looks like it's related to virtupro, but for smart trainers as well. If the beta is as impressive as it seems the competition just got more intense for Zwift, even though Zwift are invested in the development of the virtupro stationary bike.

Well I'm now quite tired in the legs. 2 Zwift workouts and a ToW stage, in total, yesterday and today. I'm going to take advantage of the predicted good weather tomorrow to do an IRW recovery ride, for my Zwift 50 minute free ride this week (I may end up with more than 50 minutes riding), before a day or maybe 2 off of the bike. Then the 2 hour Zwift workout to finish the week off.

The luggage is still shrinking, not as quickly as I'd like, sustainably, I hope. Target one is within sight if I continue to lose at the rate I am now.

Don't know if any of you have heard this rumour, but in this week's Cycling Podcast there is talk of there being a 'Zwift Prologue' in the Giro in a couple of years time.

Don't think I like the idea of mixing the virtual world with a Grand Tour

Fook that's a hard event. Carl surging back and forth, until I lost him. I got separated from my little pack and rode solo-sort of with 5 miles to go. The odd solo rider would blast by. I only lost 5 places whilst solo so alot of riders must of dropped from packs.

I hit 975W sprinting at the start, but because it was before the start line, it didnt record. My speed went from 0 to 32mph in a split second

I don’t like that idea either. If they do it i hope it’s unofficial experiment and times are not count overall results.

Carl probably try to infect motion sickness to you with that surging ^_^

I agree. Real and virtual should not be mixed.

As much as I see e-racing becoming a big thing, much like the gaming community has, it is still a guesstimate as to the real world performance of individual cyclists. The chances to fudge the numbers are too significant to allow it to be placed alongside a real world ride. I am sure there would be no deliberate attempts to skew the performance figures,, but the possibilities are too great when a grand tour is the reward.

I got dropped off the back of the group we were in (caught in sticky draft of slower riders) ..... 1st time I manage to get back on the group, second time I just didn't have it in the legs to get back on. I was probably luckier than you though as I had a small group catch me up and I managed to hang on to their coat tails for 1/2 a lap before I got dropped again and mostly solo'd to the end. I made the fatal flaw of trying to stay with you too early and burnt too many matches :surrender: Quite pleased though staying with 30 seconds of you on a course like that! On the road I came in just under 50 minutes, but in ZP it's rounded up to 50:10 (@peterob ) - I guess I need to be pleased with that time and throws the gauntlet out for others now

Excellent ride @CXRAndy , getting your mojo back :okay:
