It's Bkool fecking things up. First of all, even though Jacob packs severe power, I doubt he could go that much beyond his FTP for that duration and certainly not with an avg. HR of 139. Second, Laurens De Plus did the same watts and time and he weighs 67 kg, so something's wrong with the time as well.

Some one needs to mention to him its erroneous and needs to make private on Strava:okay:

He can then do it with a proper power meter:whistle:

Read the news that in the crash at 23 miles some poor chap died.

A friend of mine broke a bone in his neck in a big sportive a couple of years ago and luckily walked to tell the tale. Scary business is cycling.

Anyone for stage 6 today? I'll probably retry the TT at 6 and see how the feel after, but doubt I'll have time to do the 7pm.

I see someone did the TT in 12.30. they should automatically get a rainbow jersey for that kind of performance!

It's precisely that that puts me off riding organised sportives on closed road. I'd love to do the Mallorca 312, but with 8500+ other riders, a lot of them trying to 'race', accidents waiting to happen IMO
This is what worries me ... not least because I'm not used to riding with others and I'm not the greatest bike handler either. This is why I won't be taking any risks on the ToC.

It looks like Zwift have used the real location in Bologna to map this ride so the segment leaderboard is rather confusingly mixing up both Zwift and Bkool rides - not seen that before

Seen it a few times before, but doesn't happen very often.

During last summer when I had put my Zwift subscription on hold, there was a rainy weekend I didn't fancy going out in, but I had already used my free 25km for the month, so I downloaded a free trial for Bkool and rode some of their video rides. One of which was a lap of Central Park in NYC, because I'd done it real life on a Citi Bike (same as a Boris Bike in London) just a few months before, so wanted to see how much I remembered.

Completely forgot about it after the trial was over, until later in the year when Zwift launched their NYC course. After my first ride on that, I was wondering why I had one or two PR's plus a handful of 2nd places on some segments (but not all). Turns out some of the segments created by Bkool users matched up with the Zwift course just enough for them to register on both my rides - the rest however only registered on one ride or the other.

I need to get out and do some group rides for this reason, bike handling is bound it be pants basically just zwifting

That was part of the reason my brothers and I have been going to Richmond Park. A fairly constant flow of cyclists in a relatively safe on road situation.

It is scary how bad you become at bike riding while just riding VR.

Looks like you got in a good real world ride today. Was that on the single speed?
Yes, on the Single speed. 729 metres of elevation, over 60km and an average speed of 16mph (26kph). Not bad considering this was on open roads with junctions, too many road works, and the odd getting lost :banghead: Been 12 months since I last went outside (DD last year to be exact), so was a little wobbly at first. settled in OK though.

Some hills that I wasn't quite expecting, one 1.5km long with an average of 5% with ramps up to 8+% (edit - the highest gradients are 11%). Caused me to dig in but made it to the top. Flat sections were nice, easy to cruise at 30-32km without much effort.

Definitely feeling ready for ToC now. Wasn't sure how my training was really going, but I'm well chuffed

Rode the Giro course again tonight, this time on a light-ish bike and wheel set (I don't have enough Drops to get the really light bikes yet), compared to the TT/808 (non-disc) setup I did on the first ride. Now it's not a completely fair comparison, because this time I deliberately took the flat section a lot easier to save energy for the climb, plus I was quite tired after work, but I was surprised by how much difference the two setups made.

Using the "official" ZwiftInsider segments:
Flat:
TT bike - 10:19 (220w avg)
Light bike - 10:56 (205w avg) - going to assume I'd have about halved the time difference if I'd have produced the same wattage

Hill:
TT bike - 14:27 (242w avg)
Light bike - 14:06 (241w avg) - sheer accident I got so close on the wattage between the two climbs!

Overall:
TT bike - 24:47 (233w avg)
Light bike - 25:02 (225w avg) - think the lighter bike might JUST have sneaked a win with the same effort over the entire stage

EDIT - although now having looked at the comparison between the two efforts on Strava, it seems that I finished a LOT faster tonight. I was 37 seconds down at the start of the climb, but a whole minute down when I reached the first chicane (just before the 15% section). I then pulled that back to 37 seconds again by the second chicane and down to just a 15 second gap at the finish line.

I used the TT P5. I did quite well for a heavier rider. I started 50th/180 arrived at the climb 35th and held onto finish 56th. ZP has DQ quite a few riders so finshed 33rd. Im in the top 25% for 200+ riders, so more than satisfied given im out of condition- saying that, I doubt I could ave more than 10W more for that type of effort.

Signed up for the 17:00 stage 6 TT later if anyone fancies joining me. This will be the 7 out of 8 days riding, so mostly looking to set a time, rather than a particularly decent time  Excuses out the way early  Probably looking at a target time of about 50 mins
