I’m up for a ride in Team #68 on Tuesday. 👍😀

Thanks @Whorty and I hope everything goes smoothly for you. More than happy to hand the place back if your plans change!

My last few rides have all averaged 3.5W/KG so not much danger of a DQ! Two laps of UCI worlds course at 7PM isn’t it? Looks a bit flat! 😬

What do I need to do in terms of naming etc? Does someone need to send me a link to the event or is it open on Zwift.com/events??

Edit - just checked the rules on WTRL, considering I was officially an A cat at the start of the series, but not registered with a team. Would registering and racing now as a B create a stir? I think it’s within the rules for me to race but it’s not black/white:

My first ZRL race of the season I would be a B. But I’ve raced as an A in other events during the ZRL season... this is the sort of stuff that keeps @bobinski in work, isn’t it?! 🤣

sounds like you are asking for a retainer👍 I’ll send you a contract to sign 😀

One of the Zwift Insiders said ," Its flat , till it isn't."
First two thirds are flat then two short sharp steep hills and a decent drag to the end. Channel your inner Peter Sagan

To be fair you crossed the line 8th. So anything’s a bonus?...

I thought zwift taking over zwift power meant everyone was registered to zp for some reason. Or maybe that’s something they said was in the pipeline?
Yeah, to be fair if I'd only been promoted to 5th or 6th, I'd have been well chuffed. But to have that elation of getting third and then going back down to 4th about an hour or so after the results were in, for some reason just feels really deflating.

I think one of the Zwift programmers did say it was a logical step that everyone should now be automatically added to ZP, but when has Zwift done anything logically when it comes to racing?

@mjd1988 Unlucky to be just pipped for the intermediate sprint in tonight’s IRL race. Great strength shown in getting over those lumps at the start to make the selection for the lead group 🙌

Well if I knew I was being filmed I'd have tried to win the fecking thing :cuppa:

But seriously thanks for your encouragement, there was one stage at the end of the last hill when I really didn't think I would keep up with the group, really delighted I'll stayed with the top 20ish climbers at that stage and then it was pure survival mode till that sprint.

I accidentally found myself at the front with a fair bit to go, and knew with cairns and Coleman (who win all these races and all the koms and sprints) that I wasn't going to win a bunch sprint so thought I may as well see if I could get a gap, didn't realise it would be that close but the legs had nothing (my heart rate actually started going down!). Those two continued on, I stopped pedalling for a while!

Those two guys are winning GC and the Kom competition so I'm hoping if one gets one and the other gets the other I'll be next placed in the green jersey competition but it's a longshot.

Takehomes-

Richmond is a great course

The climbs are a killer but short enough if really on the line

Supertuck as much as you can!

Just seen this reply from WTRL to the "Pen Gate" scandal. Some interesting thoughts;

"As for the pens - we've watched with interest at peoples response to an 'its come to my attention' post. I am sure people do not think we are naïve enough not to have thoroughly tested this over a year ago when pens in the WTRL Team Time Trial started getting busy (I caught someone saying it was 'an oversight by WTRL' - no buddy - you clearly have absolutely no idea who we are). Even today many teams leave from our overflow and mocha pen. The time differences are 1-2 seconds tops. Teams lose more time getting out of their pen late (especially if you are one of those teams starting at the back of the pen), leaving too bigger gap in the TTT line or riding as a bunch or having those heavy riders slow the team down on hills and then a whole tonne of other variables etc.

The disparity that was seen in the times last Tuesday has very little to do with which pen you start in (and we have check system in place which is 12 months old and still working fine), it is to do with where you are in the pen, how long it takes you to get out of the pen and then how well you ride the course as a team. The sensible teams maneuver to the front of the pen just before their go time."

I was thinking that it might be an advantage being near the back of the pen do you can build up speed before hitting the official line. Obviously not.
Manoeuvring is easy enough if you pedal slowly. I was doing a bit of it on Tuesday so that’s something else we can work on.
