Yeah, looking at the 'D' results, they would have likely DQ me OR I wouldn't have pushed myself; one way or another it was a good choice. And yes: No endurance whatsoever. At the end I found it easier to surge to 300W for a few seconds and wind down to 100 rather then keep it steady. Will need to do a lot longer rides once my bum gets use to that.

Not doing any targeted training just yet. Feet/bum need to get tougher and I got plenty of routes to do. Will just do steady riding and the weekend race for now.

At this stage you don't need to do specific training - just get miles in your legs and do some racing (as you plan to do). You'll improve quickly then plateau. Then you will want to do some structured training :okay:

@Peter Salt I've realised why you probably wanted to surge in riding power yesterday. You are using the Wattbike Pro, you set the predetermined resistance.

A smart trainer releases the resistance on the down slopes offering a little bit of relief to the legs.

You are newish to cycling or out of condition, that your body cannot sustain a constant pressure set by your trainer-YET :okay:

Yes, I definitely need to get around learning or getting used to a lot of stuff - including how to manage my gearing.

The Pro has two resistance adjustments: A little knob that you can twist to change the magnetic resistance and a big lever thing that changes the air resistance. I find the latter easier to manage as it's quite precise, the difference between position '1' and '10' is about 40cm and there's a ruler thing next to it so I'm able to select the same 'gears' back and forth. The magnetic bit I try to leave alone, it's very sensitive and twisting it by as little as 2mm can add or subtract 30W. In that sense it kind of feels like riding a one by.

I'm going to play around with it, was thinking of maybe matching the air resistance to gradient. So by default setting the air resistance to minimum and the magnetic thing to my preferred effort at 80-85 RPM and then if the road goes to 5% moving the air lever to position 5.

Arrrgh rookie error. Went out on the ebike for a fasted endurance ride. I fitted HR strap, but wanted to ride on feel, so used phone to record ride. Bloody forgot to start strava record :cursing:

Around 45 miles something like 2hr20 to 2hr30.

usually riding on Zwift...
It’s all meaningless without knowing how much the bike was helping you.

What isn’t meaningless is that you got out in the open and, by the sounds of things, came back with a smile on your face 👍

Tuesday evenings around 730/745

It's a TTT though this week so not sure it'll be the most interesting one to watch!
@Peter Salt get Discord installed and join the CycleChat discord channel. We always use this during the weekly races in CCC and I assume the B guys do too. I'm not personally riding with CCC this week, but I will be watching the race and talking to them via discord. It's a CCC thing, but if not racing we volunteer to DS for the race.

Try to 'friend' us in Zwift. Then, from the companion app you should be able able to find us and 'fan view' when one of your friends is riding. Not always easy for races as you may have to join the race pen (or Pen E) to do that .... I'll find out how that works on Tuesday.

As Michael says though, this week it's a TTT so less fun as a pure spectator, but I'm sure the B or C teams would welcome extra encouragement on discord and it's a good way to see how each of us rides etc

:okay:

Edit: I've just added you as a friend on the companion app (Carl CCC Team) so you should be able to add me back now :okay:

Anybody else experiencing Zwift app and companion app weirdness in the past 24 hours?

The companion app starts and when I begin riding the map temporarily displays then after about 1 second the map screen disappears and I have no option to use the companion app to text or take screenshots etc. It is like the app is not recognising I am in a Zwift session. If I do not touch the screen the backlight turns off like the companion app is idle.

Also on a long group ride yesterday up ADZ (which I did without the working companion app to my frustration), the main zwift app crashed when I came back through the KOM banner and began my descent. When I say crashed, I mean like totally froze and the graphics on the screen became corrupted. I had to use the remote to kill the app. When I finally got it back up and running and started a new test ride, zwift recognised a previous session that was not saved and I said YES return me to the ride but the same crash thing happened immediately. The zwift servers saved the ride up to that point on my activities along with 2 duplicate entries.

Makes me think the problem is with the main zwift app - I am running ATV which although I have experienced a couple of issues with in the past, had been pretty stable for me. I tried again this morning and have the same issue with the companion app not recognising I am in a session or at least kicking me out of it after 1 second then the map disappearing, etc.

Am about to go onto the Zwift forums and have a look but thought i would blurb it all out here incase anybody else is having similar issues?

Ta muchly

edit: shoulda gone to Zwift forum first, I guess - there's a thread about it here:
https://forums.zwift.com/t/ios-companion-app-3-29-0-1158-issues/560831
Still - hopefully this thread may give people a heads up if they are thinking it is just them - it isn't! No update from ZWIFT on this for over 2 days now, disappointingly but their latest companion app version is obviously the problem.

Different issue with the Companion App here, but also only started since the most recent update (middle of last week). Now I find that it just stalls on the initial blue "Z" screen and never moves on to the main menu. If I force quit the app then try to run it again, there's a one in five chance it might load successfully; the most success I've had is by powering off and on my iPhone (maybe one in two chance then).

And I haven't actually tried riding with it yet; I was only using it to check on who was signed up to which pen for an upcoming race. Needless to say, I'll be signing on to Zwift extra early on Tuesday in case there are any other technical issues!
