Average Joe 😂 perhaps replay that one to the pros that cycle there, especially if they don't win any stages, send them a tweet, perhaps if they'd gone elsewhere they wouldn't be so average.

My comment was based around what I know and I haven't been to the canaries is any capacity so can't comment on bike hire etc..

In Play de Muro every other shop is cycling related.
What I mean it has lots of flatter routes. :okay:

I was being complimentary to yoose lot, saying you could tackle the likes of Mt Teide :hugs:

It does have flat routes, but it also has hills. Yep not as big as Teide, but you can still get a good 9000+ft in a ride should you want.

Even it you head in land for the flatter stuff, chuck in a few Monasteries and you've got yourself 6500ft, or you could miss them out and do a flat 100 miler quite easily.

Another area that is stunning is northern Spain. It's not as warm as other parts of Spain and it can rain, but the hills are brutal. You could jump on a ferry from Portsmouth and take your own bike.

Club mates have done mt Teide and rate the canaries but I've never been.

For a first time riding aboard trip I would say Mallorca. It is really well set up for cyclists, and you can have easy or tough days. There are many groups that ride that you can join, or you can do you own thing.

Bike hire is cheap, hotels are cheap, there are loads of cafes. Some routes get very busy (cap formentor and sa calobra), but their are so many other areas to explore such as the monasteries and the Orient valley.

Mallorca is great, been a few times. Staying inland in town of Campanet gives easy access to the mountains.

Can't wait to get back there, had my best day on a bike there, doing a circular route which included Sa Calobra, Puig Major & Col d' Soller, awesome day... :okay:

Been searching on 'tinternet, and found this : https://tenerifebiketraining.com/tours/tenerife-cycling-tour/

Some companies have nothing for this winter/spring as I guess covid is still playing havoc with their businesses. Need to check with work when back on possible dates, but end Feb/early March is target if brave enough to go on my own.

I'm thinking Mallorca in May ... Calpe is great, a lot of Pro Tour teams have a training camp there "early" in the year ... although I think it eas the year before last that they had heavy snowfall in March and had to abandon to go to Mallorca and Tenerife
@Whorty if following @Aleman 's routes best not to try his shortcut down. I don't think you can always count on a tree to grab as you fly off the cliff.

I did northern Spain twice back in my mountain bike touring days. Great riding in the Picos and the food was superb.
