I suppose that anyone with a head unit (all of us?) could use their head unit for this during a virtual ride?

Maybe have a dedicated screen for virtual rides that shows different metrics than when out on the road. I think all the head unit manufacturers support static rides these days don’t they?

You are right, Head Units can show IF, TSS, Av Power overall BUT I don't see how my Garmin can show ongoing 1/5/10/20/60 minute power and max 1/5/10/20/60 minute power 0r 95% x 20 min power?

Not a Garmin owner so no idea I’m afraid. I’d be surprised if all except 95% aren’t available either natively or with a custom field though? 🙂

Random new year thought. I might actually do a training programme on zwift.

Any recommendations? Looking to improve general 20 minute power rather than top end sprint

I've never followed a full programme on Zwift. I have tried but some of the workouts were a bit dull but that could be due to my lack of patience! I tend to take an existing work out and tweak it to suit depending on what I want to do.

I think you would need to pick your training plan on what you want to achieve rather than on a recommendation.

I've not done one on zwift, but did one on TrainerRoad a few years ago. I did pay dividends that year.

I did try one on zwift but got bored pretty quickly.

I now randomly pick a workout I like the look of from Trainer day (ergdb) and copy the zwo file to zwift on the laptop for custom workouts. If you don't have a laptop I don't know if you can do that.

Edit. Sorry I didn't read the last bit.

A Time trial or cyclo-cross plan might suit for 20 minute power (or a hour power improvement)

The problem I’ve had with training plans is I think they’re a bit like fad diets. Unless you’re willing to commit to doing them indefinitely the results will fade when you’ve stopped doing the plan. So if you have a particular event/s in mind then that’s a good reason for doing one. But otherwise I question how sustainable they are. For me at least.

Obviously not telling you not to give it a go Micheal. Some people do one after another and really enjoy it. Maybe you’re 20 minute power goes through the roof and we all sign up next month! 😄

Michael, Zwiftinsider have been running a series with a guy who followed a Rowe and King plan and saw lots of progress. They have loads of rides too meaning you can ride with others rather than on your own- your choice.
But to do a plan i suggest you have to have a plan and , respectfully, I am not sure increasing 20 min power is a plan? Did you mean ftp?
Training can suck the life out of cycling but equally making progress and , if done properly, keeping an eye on fatigue can allow for real progress. Not for everyone though, just ask Tommy.Darn he just posted
I have just started a wahoo SYSTM tp if nothing else to kickstart some motivation and to fit around irl rides- weather permitting.

First, a huge aerobic base
2nd 3 minute above Threshold power
3rd 5 min above threshold
4th 10 mins above threshold
5th 10 mins above then 10mins sub threshold

Build 5th to 12-15mins eventually reaching 20mins

I notice you use a lower cadence. Improving leg speed would help significantly

4 week option sounds good. I reckon I will lose interest as well but figure I should give it a lash. Cheers!
It think that’s the one for you to try. I started it back in October but after 2 weeks I developed a liking for the ZRL races which meant losing a training day (plus Needing a rest day). I quickly started to fall behind in the training plan and once I was off the rails I didn’t have the motivation to keep at it. I think the lesson is like others have said if your going to do the training plan on Zwift then you need to commit fully to it and won’t be able to race as well.
