You looked fresh as a daisy Martin🌷. Then there were what, five of us, looking thoroughly beaten up with the heat![]()
My coach won the 2019 ToC 60-65 Race. That is one of the reasons I signed up with him.

Doing the Etape lochness this year really looking forward to it and first time, also doing the Etape Caledonian which is May and this in Derbyshire https://www.beyondevents.org.uk/e/beyond-peak-district-sportive-2022-7442 99 miles again in May then the Double Devil in September.Yeah, that's the reason why if/when I do it again, I'd be quite happy to skip the flat loop and just do the 70-75 mile course that's mainly rolling and fewer boring straight roads!
Still for me, the gold standard for closed road events is now Etape Loch Ness. Bit of a faff getting up to Inverness with a bike, but the ride is just wonderful.
I was going to suggest you sign up for a shorter ToC ride. I did the Mellow Vello version and enjoyed it. The best part was meeting this bunch. @Breedon came by also and @berty bassett pulled me to Skagness the next day and rode 100 plus miles back Home the same day!good going all, looks like i will be off the bike in all forms till the 28th to give my surgury chance to heal so all the work i put in will be lost

So quite a few booked in but room for 1 or 2 more
And hello everyone![]()
I think I’ve done it twice Michael but maybe just once. The roads in Hertfordshire are really nice and rolling. But they’ve not been very well loved the last few years so they’re not the smoothest. I’d try and join you if you wanted some company though.
Did that one back in 2009. Great course, only spoilt by the local with the carpet tacks 😂doing the Etape Caledonian

Week 2 out. Not included is my current constipation that I'm sure slowed me down today. Anyone got a quick cure? I tried a hotshot parmo for tea but that hasn't helped - just got wind now.
Apricots... 👍
Had a hernia op a few years ago and for days I couldn't go, packet of dried apricots worked a treat.
Well he was younger back then and just a machine, but like all machines they get knackered and start to get a few errr……ProblemsI was going to suggest you sign up for a shorter ToC ride. Good times.
It’s ok @CXRAndy Thanks, getting my confidence back now on the roads and started cycling to work again so put the turbo away for a while.Hey-up Dean
How's it going long time no hear?
Nothing is truly lost, is it? Everything you’ve done to date will help you bounce back fitter than ever 👍good going all, looks like i will be off the bike in all forms till the 28th to give my surgury chance to heal so all the work i put in will be lost
Also, @cyberknight if this helps, I had prostate surgery in June 2020. I had plenty of time during lockdown in the weeks prior that I built up to the fittest I'd ever been. I later found out that the fact I'd got really fit was extremely helpful in a quick and complete recovery (as well a strictly following the instructions - 6 weeks with no cycling aferwards hurt but I stuck to it). A year later to the exact day, I rode a ton with club mates and now fitter and lighter than I was before surgery. No idea what you had done, but hopefully it will only be a small bump in the journey.Nothing is truly lost, is it? Everything you’ve done to date will help you bounce back fitter than ever 👍
