I meant more along the lines of; you can have two loaves of bread, one full of rubbish, the other pretty 'clean'.

Always thought bran flakes were ok but they've got added salt and sugar.

some passatas have added sugar and salt.

Don’t know why I thought you were on a keto diet. Are you on a variation of it?
I have said in posts, Id like to attain ketosis, but there are too many temptations with my family eating differently. I reduce my carbs down, but not eliminate them,so as not to cause family food preparation issues.

l monitor my glucose levels regularly. These are now in the normal range mostly-which is good news. This will be more to intermittent fasting, allowing glucose levels to drop to normal base levels for more than 12 hours a day.

I can say confidently I'm fat adapted, what mean by that is I can go a day, not have hunger pangs or cravings.

I dont require carbs to do day to day activities but do have some, but only in a small window per day (through Intermittent fasting).

Ive just had my yearly MOT at the doctor's. I will be interested to see the number's compared to my own private blood tests 3 months back

Doesn't mean NEVER eat that stuff (I mean, come on, Pizza :hungry:), but avoid it and keep it to a minimum (like the beer/wine :okay:)

Yeah that’s if

I think the thing for me is. Most of us will find it completely impossible to live like some type of food related monk.

But you have to be brutal honest with yourself and what you’re eating.

That's exactly it. For me it's "what changes can I make that I can live with sustainably for the rest of my life".
Work out what that is, and do it. Same as exercise - I love cycling so I can sustain it. Gym and treadmills - not so much

Fair point mate. I try to avoid bread completely for what it’s worth. I bloody love it too… sometimes at the weekend I treat myself to a loaf of ‘cut and chuck’ as the missus calls it, from our local poncy bakery. But really bread is the enemy if you really want to keep the weight off.

Yeah, the bran flakes thing was a shock to me-don't get Kellogs!

I love passata in a proper italian sauce but have moved to using tomatoes.

Best thing i ever bought Kath () was a breadmaker-so so easy to make bread at home. So I am told:whistle:

I'm on a JEL diet. Just Eat Less ;-) Seems to be working OK. My body is very simple and it all just boils down to a crude calories in vs. calories out equation. I appreciate this is not the case for everyone.

I think I'm pretty good when it comes to food choices. Always ate a balanced diet - meat, veggies, fruit, dairy, bread, everything - I don't exclude anything. I was never into sodas - 95% of the time I drink tap water, the remaining 5% would be when I grab some cider, whiskey or wine. That said - I really don't drink much at all. I don't drink coffee  or tea - unless it's mint or berries or something like that. I'm very fond of just pure cocoa with full fat milk. I basically never eat pre-made stuff, takeaways are also far and few between. Mostly cook my own food.

100% the same. It’s like my mantra too. If you don’t enjoy something don’t bother as you’ll never sustain it will you.

For me as I age, poor habits have created a problem of shifting weight, when not exercising. Exercising was great, but weight bounced back when I stopped.

Since September last year, I found a method , call it a diet if you will, where I can eat in such a way per day where I can shed weight without exercising. Add in regular activity and it becomes easy to drop weight. I dont have less calories just compress my calories into one small period each day. Like I posted earlier, Ive eaten today at midday and will eat tomorrow teatime with the family. Just water, black tea and black coffee between now and then

Andy I think if you can find a way of writing a 4 course pub lunch into a successful diet plan, we’ll queue up for a copy of your book! 😄
