I did my usual lack of research… and in my head I was thinking of a different, steeper climb. Alan put in a monster effort I to get back to us, and when I realised it wasn’t super steep I just thought I better try and turn the screw a bit and I know lee will do the same if I kick on. I’ve got to be honest, dropping the feather and then watching lee drop one right afterward had me in stitches . I can only imagine how far your heart sank at that point Michael 😁. Brutal…

Then lee was really super strong on the flat taking big turns. I was really surprised the gap we got, maybe a little cat and mouse in the group behind, rather than try chasing us down?

Cheers for the nickname Alan. Can’t see that one sticking at all… (🙏🙏).

The pain in my foot is quite tough to block out to be honest but what can you do! Hopefully this week is better than last because I can walk a little easier now.

4 toe tommy…

Well done everyone 👍
Ah I managed to block out the memory of the feathers flying, it was like an abattoir. That did break me to be fair, I saw the group of 6 or 7 behind and figured if I went any further into the red my best case scenario would be that if I held on over the first climb by some miracle then I'd be destroyed by the second time. Glad I did too as the pace clearly didn't ease off!

@mjd1988 - video from tonight is still uploading (about 25 minutes left), then it'll probably be an hour or so before it finishes processing. I'll post a link tomorrow morning.

may I ask for the table to read 19 for me last night , we crossed the line together even to the tenth of second , we done the same effort ( full on , for me anyway ) same effort , same time so seems unfair to grab a point - and he has less limbs !
never thought it would play out like it did , never even looked at course before and was fearing bike changes as I know I wouldn't have a clue how to do it !
the feather incident stood out to me too - Michael ,think I saw your avatars shoulders droop when the second one went off ^_^ until that gap I thought we were a group of 3 or 4 all the way !
@BurningLegs - head and shoulders above the rest ^_^^_^ - have you seen me ^_^! that has made my day
I think Betty didn't stick because you followed it up in the next line with berry ^_^ - not that I remember
a good night zwifting and a bloody good workout - thanks for sorting it and the spreadsheet
and again Steve - keep with it mate its a gruelling workout whatever happens

Here's the video from last night for those who didn't race, or those who did and want to relive it. You can skip the first eight minutes as that's just me clinging on to a group, getting dropped and then soloing around for a while. But then I give up and it starts getting interesting again as I decide to view everyone else's race instead.

I spend most of the time following the front group, but do occasionally drop back to the main pack from time to time. I also did try to capture as many people's finishes as possible, so you can stick around for those if you want.

It’s still making me laugh now reading you describe it. Horrible aren’t we? Thin line isn’t it? Truth is once we’re over the hill the pace settled a bit but it doesn’t feel like it’s ever going to sometimes.

The points are definitely yours though lee. I’ve won enough races on merit. You deserved the win last night and I’m glad you got it. Super strong mate 👍

Well done everyone. Some great attacking moves tonight. That race seemed to have everything. Hard pushes up the climb then comically slow on the downhill and flat on the first lap. I refused an aero tuck at one point because I was getting cold! Once the group thinned slightly the dynamic changes though and I ended up getting season best five minute and sixty minute numbers so pleased with that.

Thanks @bridgy for selecting the course. It’s a good racing circuit. Where were you this evening, though?!

@IrishAl - some great kamikaze moves this evening. Very fitting for the coirse! I had dejavu watching you bridge to front group at the start, and your move to get away from our group towards the end was superb. Good job bridging solo @mjd1988 !

@Whorty - nice work on the climbs especially. Was great to ride with you this evening.

@Peter Salt and @alex_cycles - my target was to get a gap on the two of you in GC tonight. Hope you don’t mind my messaging and work to make that happen. It’s all in good humour. Not going to lie - Peter was number one target after losing to him last week!

Well done to @berty bassett and @<Tommy> four toes. Head and shoulders above the rest again 👍

Great riding with @Girafitti too - think you just ran out of steam at the end, but I couldn’t quite catch Rich so we came back together for the run in which I enjoyed.
I was at the glamorous Bristol Rovers vs Colchester match! My son's in the Rovers academy and had to ballboy last night so I had no choice really- at least they won!

Sounds like a good race - as always, lots of different battles going on throughout the field.

Well done all. So did anyone gamble with a gravel bike in the end?!

Total disaster for me last night. Tried starting to log in to Zwift at 19:10, the laptop finally decided to play ball at 20:00. Managed to start the race on my mobile with a dodgy bluetooth signal and no HR but soon realised it wasn't going to work and abandoned after 3.4km. Hoping to have better luck with TdW stage 2 later today.
