Please accept my apologies for late well wishes on St Patrick's. Hope this photo of a kitten with an Irish-coloured toy makes it up.

A great watch during your warm ups

Took your advice Bob and watched this last night while warming up for the TOW Alpe Du Zwift stage - very enjoyable and brought back good memories of the 2012 olympics (it feels like things generally have gone downhill somewhat since then!). I also never realised it was Matt Stephens holding the saddles at the TT start that day.

469 watts average for 50 minutes though - fairly good

Well, good job I've pulled out of the Tour de Splitters, as I wouldn't have been able to take part anyway. Physio says I've got an inflamed achilles tendon - which is actually good news, because I originally feared I might have torn it.

Been having soreness in the calf for a few days now, but only when walking or standing; did not feel sore when cycling strangely enough. Progressively got worse day by day, became painful climbing stairs on Wednesday, then on Thursday morning I could barely walk at all. That's when I booked the appointment for first thing this morning; of course it feels a touch better today as it always does when you go to see a professional about it!

Advice is the usual trio of rest, ice & ibuprofen and some gentle stretches have been prescribed, but no intensive exercise allowed; then see them again next week. Still have no idea how I did it, as I thought achilles injuries were mainly a running thing and I gave that up a few years back.

Hope you heal up fast mate 👍

First decent ride in the real world for 2022 today....
Over the Severn Bridge into Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Great ride up to Shirenewton then onto Gaer-llwyd crossing the Usk road to take the ridge road to Devauden, the views to the north of the mountains was great with both the Skirrid & Sugarloaf clearly visible. The descent out of Devauden took me down to Tintern where the abbey looked great in the spring sunshine, a quick spot of lunch in Chepstow before back over the bridge and home.... :okay:

Did one of those enforced cats (b)

But boring without sandbaggers! Stayed as a big group, top 6 all put out C numbers and bunch sprint at the end.

Still, something new to complain about 😀
I've been looking up how they measure the power thresholds for that. It's probably been touched on in here before but they're using critical power instead of FTP. https://forums.zwift.com/t/category-enforcement-how-is-my-category-calculated-february-2022/577337

They reckon you can use intervals.icu to work out your critical power, which I've done and it puts me JUST in B.

Also noticed that most of the Crit City races are now "category enforcement". They said originally that it was experimental, but looks like it's being rolled out. Some of the "chase race" events are also category enforcement.

I believe that any races that used to be listed as "anti-sandbagging" (e.g. the green cone races) are now category enforcement instead. As most of those were on Crit City (a few were on Champs Elyesee), that's why it looks like there are so many of them.

I'm off Zwift for a few days whilst the NeilPryde below (red/black bike) is in Belgium, being borrowed by son no. 2 as a 'spare' bike for the Guido Reybrouck Classic.

From Zwift C-racing by me to a UCI cobbled classic. I just hope someone tells them that the bike's never actually been used on 'real' roads before

Have a great weekend David.... 👍
