I normally put an effort in at the start but I definitely won’t push the pace tomorrow! There’s lots of 9% sections. I think it’s really tough to be honest. Really tough climb. It’s hard to know what’s going to happen isn’t it? You and Alan back in the game. And Paul unlucky to have missed a stage too. Maybe you guys want to try and make ground back up early and make the rest of us suffer!

Ah you and Lee will be miles ahead with Paul and Tim in close pursuit I don't doubt. No point in killing myself to have a 20 second lead into a climb I'll lose 8 or 9 minutes over!

I'm trying to sort out my foot pain - got a pair of arch supporting insoles and all that did is it moved the pain from the outside just before the heel to the inside just behind the big toe... Sigh. Starting to get really frustrated with this

I got some custom bed Sidas insoles made days before I flew to Mallorca. Had fitted old insoles into new shoes.Kept getting blisters and numb toes. Risky given I rode 8/900km over 2 weeks with 12000m of climbing but nos foot issues at all. Well worth £80. London prices so probably cheaper near you.

Very much in sympathy. My feet are genetically a bit shoot, made worse by poor pedal and shoe choice and cleat position.

Insoles are worth it. I also use oofos flip flops, very supportive

I will carry on experimenting... Now considering getting a pair of G8 insoles... Thing is that the one bike fitter that seemed competent also gives you a pair as part of his service - and a lifetime replacements for the arch supporting bits. Got so frustrated earlier today that I wrote an email asking for his price.

Have you tried riding with flat pedals and normal trainers before jumping into cleats? I just wonder if your 'natural' position might be a bit different from your cleated setup?

You riding Flanders? I had to pull out due to a lingering back thing I don’t want to bounce on the cobbles. Gutted.

Unfortunately not I'm there for work... 😳

I dont see me being on the virtual start line. I've got Covid confirmed at the weekend and been feeling rough. No girls involved that I can remember. I blame my work trip to Dublin. If I'm any way received I might get my leg over the bike and try to start but so far anything mildly strenuous has me out of puff very fast ☹️

☝🏼 deserves at least 0 surely??

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. Hope you feel ok mate.

To be fair I do genuinely think covid is worth at least a 4. Unfortunately I never said I was fair…

2/10

Avid followers of my Strava feed may be able to spot where I had ‘an off’ on my commute home last night.

I’m a bit battered and bruised this morning… taking the train rather than cycling for the first time all year including that day of the storm in January.

Spent some of the train journey so far looking at other peoples depressed faces…. Spent the rest of the time mulling over the correct excuse score. Settled on 4/10 👍

Sorry to hear about that!

What happened, and what did you hit?

Hope it’s nothing more than a few days of rest will sort 🙂
