I've given up on the various race categories now, totally confuses me. I just look at the pen I'm going to be plonked in, and if there are 3 or 4 others who look the same ability as me (so I know I should have company) then I'll join. No idea what their various scores are as it doesn't show in ZP

Zwift racing scores do show in Zwiftpower

I think now that Zwift pulls data from Garmin Connect it should pull the data for weight, I jump on the wifi connected scales every morning and the day to day weight difference can be quite significant, I leave my Zwift weight as what I think is average, but it would be more accurate pulled from Garmin Connect.
I realise this might be a bit OTT.

The bonus XP currently only makes a real difference if you are under level 41 and don't have the best virtual equipment for races.

As for only allowing outdoor rides count from Garmin and Wahoo, to give XP, what the heck?:stop:

I decided not to enable Zwift to see my Garmin Connect data, My source of truth is intervals. I don't feel the need to sell zwift all my fitness data for 5xp/km (particularly when I don't need xp for any useful reason).

I think it's probably great for people who don't already have all their data going to Connect, Strava, Intervals and VeloViewer though

Only if I go into each individual rider in a race ... or have they changed it so it is on the list of riders for a race?

When there are 65 riders, buggered if I'm going into each one to see their score haha
Would be nice if it was in the listing of riders and we could sort by it (like we can sort by the various w/kgs and the old ranking which is strangely still visible even though it's never been used (or at least I can't recall it ever being used).

Re my race ... mid table obscurity although I did chase down 3 others on the KoM and held off all chasers :wahhey:

It's OK but it only loads Garmin data from outdoor rides, if you upload to Garmin from Rouvy, Mywhoose etc, it doesn't upload to Zwift, so it can't be used to record total mileage like Garmin/Strava etc.

Honestly, who gives a monkeys about how long another rider's streak is?
Who thinks developing a streak saver is a good use of Zwift programming time right now?

Zwift racing needs a complete overhaul, from limitting athlete weight/height changes; neutralized virtual equipment performance to scrapping this pathetic Racing Score and replacing it with a vELO system.

The bonus XP currently only makes a real difference if you are under level 41 and don't have the best virtual equipment for races.

Depends how you look at it. You appear to be under the impression that Zwift, or any other business really, cares about you.

A business doesn't exist to please you, it exists to make money. From that perspective, if 'gamification' such as upgrades, streaks, etc. attracts/retains more users than balancing racing, than it's perfectly reasonable for a private enterprise to invest in it. Isn't it?

May be very cynical of me, but you know... It's not like they love you

That, and let's be honest: There is no solution for balancing racing - it's just a matter of which group of people gets shafted. No way to make everyone happy makes for another good reason to work on other stuff.

Nailed it Pete - Zwift, and the others platforms, are not charities. They're there to sell a commodity and to make a return for its investors.

And the commodity is "a whinging license"

I can't see how the VCs are ever getting a return though.

I pay my subs so only fair I get my whinging in

I'm struggling to see how they can't get a return - it's a fairly simple model surely? A few developers, adding additional features to the software framework they already have in place? Big increase in fees to users, certainly a high number of riders still on the platform - it 'should' be a money making machine.
It seems they have made a few mistakes along the way but (in my personal opinion) they do seem to at last be learning what the community wants and are hitting some right notes. Long may it last :okay:

Damn, I didn't whinge enough there ...

.... bloody ZRS, pile of crock that is

Agree it SHOULD be a money machine, but then I have to ask myself why they had two rounds of redundancies, a change of CEO, getting rid of the new CEO, and endless money spent on sponsoring Tour de France Femmes and MvdP lunches.

I think they are like Twitter. One of those companies that has never made a profit because it's living in the future. COVID handed them a free gift which they haven't managed to handle well. They don't give much of a damn about racing because only 15% of subscribers ever race anyway. But racers are, I think, more likely to stick around on Zwift year-round.

My subs are due in May - will have to decide whether to remain annual or go monthly for a bit. At the moment I'm feeling a bit stale and enjoying outdoor more. But it only takes a couple of rainy/windy days to change that. So who knows?

Well yeah, but I was just correcting what you said about it not being on ZP

There's lots that should/could be improved on ZP but I don't think Zwift are interested in doing that and it's just a bit of a placeholder site for them until they get all that data properly in-house within the Zwift.com website I suspect (which does kind of make sense in the longer term)

If you want to see how you compare to other riders signed up for your race zwiftracing.app is probably the best place to look

I think this is the most overlooked reason why the actions (or lack of) that Zwift make so often annoy some of us but possibly make sense for the business as a whole. We see it through the lens of racing as that's one of our main uses and enjoyments on Zwift but we're actually in the minority of their overall customer base.

Same, but having seen the weather forecast - yellow warnings for rainfall and flooding in Somerset, and lots of rainclouds for the next couple of weeks - I won't be pausing my membership just yet!

I always forget about the ZR.app as a source for events :okay: . So used to using ZP ... ZR looks better as can at least sort by vElo score (although by the looks that does need recent data as it had me completely wrong yesterday - forecast I'd be second, but I was 19th - haven't raced for ages)
