Problem is I'm entering the period of year where my seasonal asthma appears. I'll play it day by day.
Is that triggered by pollen like hay fever?

I have been sniffling and wheezing for about a month now. I thought that I was coming down with a cold but nothing more than a runny nose and a sore throat has developed. Very odd! I might even have a mild dose of Covid? I have caught it a few times and am up to date with the jabs so I probably have enough immunity to keep any further infections mild.

Despite that, I (just) exceeded 2.5 W/kg ftp (198 W) yesterday evening, for the first time. I hadn't been trying to do it but I had a crosswind on the 4 km drag from Todmorden to Portsmouth, followed by a stiff climb up to Sourhall and must have made enough effort to improve my ftp PB.

I am still still slowly losing weight towards my target of 73 kg. I only have about 6 kg to go. When I get there my ftp would be 2.71 W/kg even if my power hadn't improved. Still a huge chasm between that and my goal of about 3.8 W/kg though! At my age and with my health history, I suspect that I won't ever get there, but it will be fun trying.

Now all I need is some bad weather to force me back onto the Victory trainer to check out MyWhoosh!

Well, that ftp didn't last long! :okay:

It was a nice evening and wind conditions were favourable for me to attempt to improve my time up the long Cragg Vale climb so I just got stuck in up there...

I averaged 211.5 W for 20 minutes (210 W for the 27 minutes that it took me to do the climb) so that is an ftp of 200.4, equivalent to 2.54 W/kg.

This post could kick off a lot of strong opinions about FTP Measurement ^_^

Well done though.

I'm wondering if I'm suffering with Hay Fever. I've had a sore throat forquite a while and a persistent cough - plus nose streaming and voice sounding "nasal". Thought it was a bug a couple of weeks ago when it was worst but now leaning towards the HF thought.

How do you know if it is HF?

It affects people in all sorts of different ways. Some have runny nose, or eyes or both. Some folk get blocked sinuses. I get tightened lungs(need inhalers) plus slight eye and nose issues.

You could try over the counter anti hayfever like Cetirizene tablets and Beconaise nasal spray. If your symptoms eased, you'll probably got a bit of hay fever

Judging from your race today, I'd say you're healthy. Consistent laps at your PR.

My youngest has passed her driving test,:wahhey: so I'm hoping to get back to a little more riding on Zwift.

I'm lucky I don't suffer with allergies, but blimey, last week I was inhaling pollen riding round Bala - it was 'incredible'. Must be a nightmare for those that suffer.

My seatpin has fallen apart! A few weeks ago, I was trying to take my seatpin out of the frame (that old chestnut!), and when I twisted the saddle, I noticed that it turned without the seatpin moving... It's been a bit wobbly since, until it came completely apart as I sat down after a sprint effort this morning.

Is Araldite going to be up to a job like this? It's at the right height, so I don't mind if the repair isn't sufficient to ever get the seatpin out (forcibly twisting the saddle might break the new bond).

Just replacing the seatpin is an option, but only if I fly-press the tube because there's nothing to grip as it is. Then, I'd be banking on being able to get it out of the frame, which is by no means certain (because I'm an idiot and I probably haven't re-greased my seatpin for 20 years!)
