Bloody hell - GWS!!Ugh outdoor rides done for me for a while. Close pass led to clipping pavement and a trip to ED. I'll be grand and still have my teeth but fairly banged up

Ha - an hour later some plonker drove past me at twice the speed and half the distance from me that I would be comfortable with, and that was with stationary traffic ahead of us at roadworks. He had to slam his brakes on to avoid running into the vehicle ahead. He gained absolutely nothing from his reckless driving!I am finding traffic more and more bothersome these days.

Have fun!Me and Mrs are away for a few days in Norfolk, pootling the lanes, between Bedbreakfast/ hotels . Weather looks to be scorcher, so plenty of ice cream stops
Very lucky, I've actually broken a few facial bones but they aren't displaced at all which would be a whole other story. I'll just look like a monster for a few weeks but nothing permanentHoly crāp Michael. Get well soon, sounds like your were lucky, could have been worse
Oh gosh, that sounds very uncomfortableVery lucky, I've actually broken a few facial bones but they aren't displaced at all which would be a whole other story. I'll just look like a monster for a few weeks but nothing permanent
Not as bad as it sounds or looks fortunately. We are on holiday to Mallorca tomorrow as well, looked like we would have to miss it but thankfully maxfax surgeons are happy enough to fly with it. I've quietly cancelled the daya bike rental tho...Oh gosh, that sounds very uncomfortable![]()
A car load of weed-smoking lads shot past me and one of the stoned scrotes decided to deafen/scare me by screaming abuse into my right ear. Unfortunately for him (but fortunately for me), his weed habit had messed with his timing so the car was actually about 25 metres in front of me by the time that he did it!!And with that, it is time to get out for another round of dodge-the-divots...![]()
Me too...Similarly to Colin though, I had young people scream at me when going past - but in my case it was a Mini full of girls and the abuse was 'Nice @ss!'![]()
I have woken up almost looking forward to bad weather returning so I can get stuck in on the turbo trainer!I had one lean out of the window of an overtaking car and shout that...
Then she saw my face and gasped "Oh God - he's OLD!!!"![]()
Get well soon, Michael. Good to hear you've been given the go-ahead for your holidays - sounds like a chance for good recovery.
I did a longer off-road ride yesterday, which included a very rocky descent, and was thinking about this thread - i.e., the probability of getting injured depending on ride type. My personal track record would suggest off-road is more dangerous.
I'm lucky to have never had a really dangerous road cycling situation myself. Similarly to Colin though, I had young people scream at me when going past - but in my case it was a Mini full of girls and the abuse was 'Nice @ss!'![]()
