Have done Britwell before and it took me almost 6 minutes, compared to the under 2 1/2 that seems to be a previous winner's time. Okay, my attempt was 40 miles into a ride and maybe I wasn't giving it full beans (although my numbers on Strava do suggest I wasn't Zone 2-ing it either), but that's a healthy deficit!

It's one of those climbs that gets steepest at the top, then suddenly goes completely flat once you're past where the finish line would be.

Anyone else got an older Wahoo Elemnt Bolt (or Roam V1 or Elemnt V1) and suffered this software bug making the computer think it's January 2006! Not only has it gone back 20 years in time but the clock error leads to massive GPS glitches making it almost unusable.

I realised mine wasn't working properly on a ride on Sunday and as nothing appeared in my Strava feed after the ride I assumed it hadn't uploaded at all - until I found out about the issue via DC Rainmaker and lo and behold it HAD uploaded but it was quite hard to find as it was dated January 1st 2006! The route and elevation were very glitchy too as expected but I eventually managed to clean it up and sort out the route, elevation and date etc. using https://gpx.studio/ which is a great tool.

Pretty annoying! I've had my Bolt since 2018 so I guess it is getting on a bit now, but up until now it worked perfectly fine so I had no reason to think about changing it (and as we know they're not exactly cheap!)

Hopefully they will fix with a software update soon but just wondered if anyone else was affected?

My roam was flawless the last two weeks using Komoot routes and great rerouting the many times I got lost looking for coffee.

That looked utterly revolting 🤮 560W most of the way up

Courtney finished 29th in 2:37.5. His time from the start to the finish of the short course was about 12s faster than I managed last year (which I though was a pretty good ride for me).
Oh, Riber! Matt and I recce'd the course and parked at the top, in the pi55ing rain and howling winds, and, rather than riding down (because at very low speeds my brakes judder a little), I decided to take my shoes off and walk down. Got a bit freaked out by seeing riders losing traction and crashing going uphill... I didn't really warm up properly and was shivering on the start line. I was quite careful not to push too hard early on, because it gets super-steep in the second half. I really struggled with wheelspin, being reduced to a standstill four times, and was really just relieved to get up - my time of 5:04 (25th/43) was 40s slower than my Spindata predicted time. Matt's only just got over a bout of Covid so wasn't expecting anything more from the weekend than a good time with my family, so he was quite phlegmatic about his 5:02 (22nd).

We went to my boss's house in Matlock afterwards for a cup of coffee and ham sandwiches, because the afternoon race didn't start until 2pm. Steve and his wife, Collette, were fantastically hospitable and came out to cheer us on in the afternoon. Bank Road is a much shorter climb - much more my scene! The sun had come out, and I got a decent warmup, including riding the climb a couple of times. I spotted my colleague Ben at the pub, three-quarters of the way up, just where the road pitches up a bit more. Because I'm an idiot, I forgot to reset my Garmin until I was under the starter's orders, then freaked out a bit when it said that it needed to run an update, so I rode the event without a Garmin trace (so although I put it onto Strava as a manual activity, it didn't really happen). I was able to get the bit between my teeth, and feel that I managed my effort really well, and got up in 2:16 for 18th place (3rd vet) in a strong field. Matt did 2:28 for 31st, at an average of 483W, which suggests that my power was about 545W - a massive best for this interval. The Nationals next year are on a slightly extended version of this course - the crowds are going to be spectacular!
