@Whorty and I both rode for the DIRT Sea Urchins in the Development C league. Had a bit of trouble with the draft at points - sometimes there'd be a gap and you'd be pedalling super hard but not able to close it, then a few minutes later (usually on a downhill), you'd coast past all your team-mates barely putting down any watts at all, which is very strange.

However we did manage to come 4th out of 8 and were only 12 seconds down on our target time, so we're pretty happy. Looks like the top three teams are in a league of their own frankly and we might be the best of the rest.

One of our heavier guys kept zooming past us near the start of the downhills.
I wonder if there was something up with the dynamics or if it was just a question of gettting used to doing TTT without steering?
(Many of our guys TTT every week but they all use steering and with ZRL it's switched off.)

Michael and I rode the TTT in our Dev B team - it was definitely a good workout! We lost two riders about halfway in I think, so had a long way to go with just 4 riders. One of those 4 was struggling and we had to wait for him a few times and Michael and I were doing the majority of turns on the front. So overall we weren't the fastest despite how hard we worked - we finished 8th out of 10 teams.

We did pass the team that started ahead of us, but they started catching us again towards the end and were hovering about 10 seconds back for ages - they provided a good incentive for us to keep pushing as hard as we could to prevent them overtaking us! They got to within 3 seconds in the last KM but we did just manage to hold them off!

We were wondering exactly that about dynamics in our post-race warmdown chat. It's understandable that I'd be affected on downhills due to being the heaviest of the group, but at least two others mentioned experiencing the same problem. I was freewheeling at times and rushing past everyone, yet then struggling to close gaps with watts higher than what my supposed pulls were meant to be - all in all made for a stressful event at times.

Have to shout out Carl though - as someone who admits his style of riding doesn't suit TTTs, he was the last person to move from 60 second spells on front to 30 secs and also helped pull me back to the group when I was struggling at least twice (post-escalator and the 2nd climb of Northumberland Ave).

We started with six riders and finished with four - one was loaned to us from the bench of another team and he could only do limited turns on the front, but gave one final effort at Box Hill before dropping off, then we lost another by accident on the Embankment where he'd done a turn on the front, dropped back but somehow lost the wheels of the group and by the time we'd realised there was a gap, he didn't have the energy left to chase and we had to leave him behind.

Surprisingly I was fine nearly all the time with controlling my position. I did overshoot a couple of times, but most of the time was pretty steady. I wonder if having 10Hz race mode makes a difference? I have the direct connect ethernet connection on my Kickr 5.

Worth doing a short ride on TPV today - you get entered in a draw for a free KICR Core 2
And/or sign up for the Sigma Sports mailing list at -> https://sigmasports-gb.attn.tv/p/c1N/landing-page <- to be entered in a draw for a Wahoo Kickr Bike Pro & Kickr Core 2!

If I happened to win the Kickr Bike Pro, I would offer my barely used Victory trainer on here for half price (if my best mate didn't want it).

Cheers. Wee 10% off code as well. If something is free your data is the product but sure I think they had mine anyway 😂

It's probably been asked before, but recommendations please for a remote control fan for Zwifting.

I have 2 but Wendy is snaffling one and we don't want to keep moving them around so I'll get another.
